Web design for Lower Saxony's industrial city

Web Design in Salzgitter

Salzgitter's economy is built around large plants, and many people who do business with them come from abroad: battery specialists, rail engineers, suppliers from other countries. Talha Aslan and team build websites that speak German to local buyers and authorities and English to international partners, with the German legal pages in place and every step agreed online.

In short

Web design in Salzgitter means a German site that procurement teams and local customers trust, often with an English version for international partners, plus the Impressum and cookie consent that German law expects. PowerCo started battery cell production in Salzgitter in December 2025, beside a Volkswagen plant where about 7,500 people work. Talha Aslan and team work with Salzgitter companies fully online.

Salzgitter's business profile

What should a company website deliver in Salzgitter?

Salzgitter had 104,970 residents at the end of 2024 (Destatis). The city's business development agency WIS counts more than 45,000 employees subject to social insurance and describes Salzgitter as the third largest industrial location in Lower Saxony. Four strengths shape what a website has to do here.

Steel on the way to low carbon

Salzgitter AG has its headquarters in the city, employs more than 25,000 people worldwide and is moving towards lower carbon steelmaking with its SALCOS programme. Maintenance, assembly and transport firms that want a place in this supply chain need sites that show certificates, equipment and past work in a way buyers can scan quickly.

From engines to battery cells

Volkswagen's Salzgitter plant employed about 7,500 people in 2025 and built 728,000 engines; on the same site PowerCo started battery cell production on 17 December 2025. New production lines bring demand for suppliers, technicians and services, and a clear service page with an enquiry form is the first step to meeting it.

Rail vehicles and hydrogen trains

Alstom's largest production site anywhere is in Salzgitter, where about 2,000 people work and where the Coradia iLint hydrogen trains were developed and built. Engineering, testing and software partners win trust with technical pages in German and English and documents that can be downloaded.

Lower Saxony's largest inland port

The port in Beddingen handles around 2 million tonnes a year via the branch canal to the Mittelland Canal, from grain and steel products to wind turbine segments. Storage, forwarding and transhipment firms benefit from one page per service and a quick quote path.

How we work

Our team is in Istanbul, your Salzgitter project runs on screen

We have no branch, representative or staff in Germany; the whole project is handled by our team in Istanbul. With a Salzgitter company, the first meeting, design reviews and launch day happen on video calls with screen sharing, in English or German. Istanbul is one hour ahead of Germany in summer and two in winter, so a slot after an early shift or before a plant meeting is easy to find.

We start by writing down who the site has to win: plant procurement teams, international partners, households in Lebenstedt or Bad, or all of them. Which pages exist in German and English, who supplies the legal texts and the timeline are part of the written quote; if you travel to Istanbul anyway, we can also meet there.

For most industrial suppliers the quote form and the careers page pay off from day one; the English version is written for international readers, not run through a translation widget.

Websites in demand in Salzgitter

What companies around the plants need most

A wide network of suppliers, trades and service firms works around the large production sites, and the Ostfalia campus in the Calbecht district has about 1,700 students. This profile turns into the following website needs.

Suppliers and industrial service firms

German and English pages that show maintenance, welding, assembly, machinery and certificates at a glance, a download area for technical documents and a quote form procurement can use; see the industrial company website page.

Logistics, storage and forwarding

Service pages that explain water, road and rail links, fleet and warehouse capacity, plus a fast quote request; details on the logistics company website page.

Engineering and tech partners

For firms working with battery, rail or steel projects: capability pages, case outlines without confidential data, an English version for international teams and a careers area for scarce specialists.

Services for relocating specialists

Doctors, dentists, tax advisers, driving schools and landlords who serve newcomers to the plants: clear service pages in English, German legal pages and an easy way to get in touch.

In-depth guide

Web Design Salzgitter: Sites for Suppliers, Specialists and Newcomers

Talha Aslan and teamLast updated: 15 min read

This guide is for companies that do business in Salzgitter without being rooted in the German market: international suppliers opening a local unit, engineering firms supporting battery or rail projects, startups linked to the Ostfalia campus, and service providers who look after specialists moving to the city. A web design Salzgitter project has to answer German buyers, German authorities and English speaking teams on the same domain.

We, Talha Aslan and team, ordered the questions the way they come up in a real project. Each section ends with something you can check, decide or ask any agency, whether it sits in Lower Saxony or abroad.

What a Website Has to Do in Salzgitter's Economy

In Salzgitter, a business website mostly works as proof of capability for people who already heard your name somewhere else. Destatis counted 104,970 residents on 31 December 2024, while the city's economic development agency WIS reports more than 45,000 employees covered by social insurance and describes Salzgitter as the third largest industrial center in Lower Saxony.

That ratio tells you a lot. Many people work here who live elsewhere, and many decisions about your company are made by procurement teams, project managers and HR staff who compare several candidates quickly. Steel, engines, battery cells and rail vehicles are produced in the city, and battery cell production started there in December 2025. Around them sits a network of maintenance, logistics and engineering firms.

Write down which of these jobs your site must do first:

  • Win a qualified inquiry: show services, equipment, certifications and a named contact a buyer can reach without calling a switchboard.
  • Recruit: explain roles, shifts, language requirements and relocation support, then let candidates apply in a few minutes.
  • Reassure partners abroad: give your head office, investors or clients in other countries an English version that matches the German one.
  • Serve local customers: opening hours, directions and a phone number that can be tapped on a smartphone.

The first item on your list decides what appears above the fold on mobile and what your analytics will count as success.

Search Intent in Salzgitter: Districts, Projects and Relocation

People in Salzgitter search the way the city is built: by district, by industrial task and, for newcomers, by life admin. The city is made up of seven Ortschaften and 31 districts spread over a wide area, so someone in Lebenstedt rarely types the same thing as someone in Salzgitter Bad or Thiede.

  • District searches: "Zahnarzt Lebenstedt", "Autowerkstatt Gebhardshagen" or "Physiotherapie Salzgitter Bad". The map pack dominates these results, so your address, hours and phone number must be consistent everywhere.
  • Industrial service searches: "Anlagenbau Instandhaltung Niedersachsen" or "Prüflabor Batterie". These are made at a desk during office hours and need detailed service pages in German.
  • Relocation searches: specialists arriving for battery, rail or steel projects look in English for apartments, doctors who speak English, tax advisers and driving schools.
  • Regional searches: trades and service firms also get work from the Landkreise of Wolfenbüttel, Peine and Goslar, and from the larger neighbors Braunschweig and Wolfsburg.

Shift work shapes the timing. Many local customers browse after an early shift or before a night shift, so a form, a callback request and clear response times matter more than a phone line staffed nine to five.

Run a quick test on your phone: search your five most important services once with a district name and once with "Salzgitter", then note what fills the first screen. That list is the starting brief for any web design Salzgitter plan.

Working With a Partner Outside Germany: What to Verify

A partner abroad works well when the process is written down, visible and predictable; distance is rarely the real risk. Talha Aslan and team work from Istanbul, and projects in Germany run fully online. Istanbul is one hour ahead of Germany in summer and two hours in winter, so working days overlap for most of the day.

Ask every agency you consider the same questions, and get the answers in writing:

  • Point of contact: who runs the video calls, and how many business days does a reply take?
  • Scope: does the proposal list pages, languages, revision rounds and who is responsible for the German legal texts?
  • Preview: can you review the site on your own phone on a protected staging address before launch?
  • German copy: who writes or edits the German pages, and is anything machine translated without review?
  • After launch: who fixes a broken form or a plugin update, and through which channel do you report it?

For an international company, one more question matters in web design Salzgitter work: can the agency take briefings in English from head office and still produce German pages that read naturally to a local buyer? The full scope of our work is described on the web design service page.

Domain, Hosting, Code and Accounts in Your Name

Every asset of your website should be registered to your company, with the agency added as a user rather than an owner. International firms often discover the opposite years later, when a local agency or a former employee holds the domain.

  • Domain: register the .de domain through a registrar in your company's name. If the holder sits outside Germany, check the registry's rules on a contact address in the country before you register.
  • Hosting: choose a data center in the EU, ideally in Germany, and sign a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR (DSGVO) with the host.
  • Code and content: ask for a full export of files and database at handover and put usage rights for design, text and photos into the contract.
  • Accounts: Google Business Profile, Search Console, analytics and any ad accounts belong to you; the agency gets access as a team member.
  • E-mail: run company mail on your own domain and set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC so that quotes do not land in spam.

If a regional unit and a head office share one brand, decide early whether Salzgitter gets its own domain or a folder on the group site. A folder keeps authority in one place; a separate domain needs its own care.

The Project Step by Step, Fully Online

A Salzgitter project runs from the first call to launch through screen sharing and written approvals; no step requires meeting in person. Each phase ends with a document you approve or a page that works.

  1. Discovery call: on video we cover audiences, languages, competitors and who owns the legal texts; you receive a short written summary.
  2. Proposal: pages, languages, deliverables, revision rounds and responsibilities are listed one by one.
  3. Content map: a table links every page to a reader, the question it answers and the search phrase it targets.
  4. Design: the home page and one key service page, mobile view first; feedback is collected in writing.
  5. Build and test: on a protected preview we check forms, cookie consent, language switching and the German copy together.
  6. Launch and training: on launch day we verify tracking and walk your team through editing in a recorded session.

Progress is visible in our CRM, so a plant manager on a project site or a head office in another time zone can see what is waiting for approval. Calls are scheduled around your shifts and meetings. If you happen to travel to Istanbul, we are glad to meet at our office in Ataşehir, but it is never required.

Local SEO in Salzgitter: Profile, Districts and Reviews

Local visibility starts with a complete and accurate Google Business Profile, and the website's job is to confirm what the profile says. The business name must match your real world name; adding "Salzgitter" or a service keyword to it breaks Google's guidelines.

  • Category and services: pick the primary category closest to your core business and list services individually in German.
  • Service area: if you visit customers, you may hide your address and list the areas you really serve, such as Salzgitter, Wolfenbüttel or Peine.
  • German directories: keep name, address, phone and hours identical in Gelbe Seiten, Das Örtliche and industry directories.
  • Reviews: ask for a review with a short link after each job and reply to every review in calm, factual German.
  • Photos: real images of your workshop, team at work (with consent) and finished jobs instead of stock photos.

On the site, mention districts only where you have real work to show. A page about "a heating replacement in Ringelheim" with photos and a short description of the job beats thirty copies of the same text with a different district name; Google treats such copies as doorway pages. If you want ongoing local work, our search engine optimization service covers it separately.

Languages: German First, English and Turkish When They Pay Off

German is the main language of any web design Salzgitter project, because buyers, authorities, local customers and most candidates search in German. The Impressum and privacy policy must be available in German as well.

English pays off when international specialists, partners abroad or a foreign head office are part of your audience. Many people arriving for battery or rail work start their research in English, and a careers page in English can widen your candidate pool. Turkish helps firms with many Turkish speaking customers in trades, insurance, real estate or health care, where trust depends on being understood.

  • Separate URLs: each language lives in its own folder, with a clear counterpart for every page.
  • hreflang: every version references all others and itself; annotations that are not reciprocal may be ignored. Our hreflang generator builds the tags for you.
  • Written, not translated: English pages answer the questions an expat or foreign buyer actually asks, which are not always the questions a German customer asks.
  • No forced redirects: do not send visitors to a language by browser setting; a visible language switch is enough.

The structure behind this is explained on our multilingual website page.

Speed, EU Hosting and Security

Most visitors open a Salzgitter business site on a phone, often during a short break or between appointments, so speed is part of the first impression. Google considers Core Web Vitals good when 75 percent of visits reach these values: LCP (how fast the largest content loads) at 2.5 seconds or less, INP (how quickly the page responds to a tap) at 200 milliseconds or less, and CLS (how much the layout shifts) at 0.1 or less.

  • Images: deliver workshop and machinery photos as WebP in sizes that match the screen.
  • Fonts: host fonts on your own server; loading Google Fonts from Google without consent led to a damages ruling by the Munich Regional Court (LG München I) on 20 January 2022.
  • Hosting: EU hosting, automatic backups and an SSL certificate should be standard, not extras.
  • Updates: keep the CMS and plugins current and remove what you do not use.
  • Uploads: if buyers can upload drawings or specifications, limit file types and sizes and use spam protection that does not need cookies.

Short product sheets in German and English load faster than one heavy catalog. Measure speed on a midrange phone over mobile data, before and after launch, using the same pages.

Sector Examples From Salzgitter's Economy

The sites most needed in Salzgitter grow out of its production base: suppliers, logistics firms, technical partners and businesses that serve the people who work in the plants. Each needs a different page structure.

  • Industrial suppliers: capability pages for welding, assembly, maintenance or machining, a list of certifications and machinery, downloadable documents and a quote form that asks for drawings and quantities; see our industrial company website page.
  • Logistics near the inland port: the port in Beddingen handles around 2 million tons a year via the Stichkanal link to the Mittellandkanal; storage and forwarding firms need pages explaining water, road and rail options.
  • Engineering and testing partners: project outlines without confidential data, team competencies, English versions for international clients and a careers area for scarce specialists.
  • Relocation services: landlords and property managers serving newcomers need clear listings, move in steps and English contact options; the structure is shown on our real estate website page.
  • Practices and schools: doctors, dentists and driving schools that welcome English speakers, and that also want to reach the roughly 1,700 students at the Ostfalia campus.

Never present a large manufacturer as a client or partner on your site unless you have written permission. Describe the type, scale and method of your work instead; buyers understand that, and it keeps you on safe ground.

Legal Basics for Websites in Germany

German law asks more of a business website than many other markets, and the rules apply to foreign companies with a German presence as well. The points below are general information, not legal advice; please have your texts checked by a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt).

  • Impressum: under § 5 DDG (Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz, which replaced the TMG on 14 May 2024) business websites must name the provider, address, contact details and register and VAT data; regulated professions add their chamber and professional rules.
  • Privacy policy: when personal data is processed, a GDPR compliant Datenschutzerklärung must explain forms, maps, analytics and every other tool.
  • Cookie consent: § 25 TDDDG allows non essential cookies and tracking only after the visitor has agreed.
  • Accessibility: since 28 June 2025 the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) applies to many consumer facing online shops and services; micro enterprises offering services are exempt, so check whether it applies to you.
  • Online shops: the order button must state clearly that the order is binding, for example "zahlungspflichtig bestellen" (§ 312j BGB), and consumers need withdrawal information.

For international groups, the Impressum must name the legal entity that actually operates the German site, not just the parent brand. We handle the technical side, such as the consent banner, secure forms and links to the legal pages from every page; the content of the texts stays your responsibility and is assigned in writing in the proposal.

Relaunching Without Losing Rankings

The main risk in a relaunch is that addresses Google already knows disappear overnight; the remedy is a permanent redirect from every old URL to its closest new page. A Salzgitter firm that has used the same domain for years has built value into those addresses.

  1. Inventory: export all old URLs, top landing pages and external links from Search Console and the server.
  2. Mapping: assign each old URL to the most relevant new page in a simple table.
  3. 301 redirects: activate them at the moment of launch and avoid chains.
  4. Index control: make sure the staging site is crawlable with noindex, and that the tag is removed from the live site; a staging site blocked in robots.txt cannot have its noindex read.
  5. Monitoring: check Search Console errors and the positions of key pages every week for the first month.

If the relaunch also merges a local site into a group domain, plan the move together with head office so that the German pages keep their URLs or receive clean redirects. Schedule the switch for a quieter period, so there is time to fix anything that slips.

Common Mistakes on Salzgitter Business Websites

The same handful of mistakes appears again and again on sites of small and midsize firms in and around Salzgitter, and most are easy to fix. Compare your own site with this list:

  • English only: an international firm publishes only in English and German buyers bounce; build the German version first and add English as a separate, equal version.
  • Generic capability claims: phrases like "high quality solutions" replace evidence; show certifications, machinery, capacity and a named contact instead.
  • Client logos without permission: large manufacturers shown as references without consent; describe the type and scale of work instead.
  • Incomplete Impressum: a phone number and e-mail are not enough; give the full details § 5 DDG requires and link the page from every page.
  • Tracking before consent: analytics and maps load before the visitor agrees; configure the consent banner so nothing optional runs earlier.
  • Dead contact outside office hours: only a landline is listed; add a form, a callback request and a monitored mailbox for shift workers.

Ask someone who does not know your company to open the site on a phone. If they cannot say within half a minute what you do, where you work and how to reach you, fix structure and copy before investing in a new design.

What Drives the Budget

Price does not depend on your city; it depends on scope and on how much is prepared before the project starts. Knowing the cost drivers makes any proposal easier to read and compare.

  • Templates and pages: ten service pages on one template take less effort than ten different layouts.
  • Languages: each additional language means writing, hreflang and testing; treat it as new copy, not as translation.
  • Technical content: certificate areas, downloadable sheets and upload forms for drawings need extra development.
  • Integrations: booking systems, CRM, applicant tracking or an online shop widen the scope.
  • Content preparation: photography, German copywriting and migration of an old site vary with what you already have.

Put proposals side by side by line item. If one looks much cheaper, ask what is missing; often it is the technical setup of the legal pages, the English version or support after launch. Our fixed packages and what they include are listed in the pricing section of the web design page.

The simplest way to protect the budget is preparation: collect services, certificates, photos and Impressum details in one folder before the first call.

The First 90 Days and Your Next Step

Launch is where measurement begins; the first three months show whether a web design Salzgitter project actually brings inquiries, candidates and calls. Plan this period in small, regular steps.

  1. Week one: confirm that forms, phone taps and consent are tracked correctly, and submit the sitemap in Search Console.
  2. Month one: add fresh photos to your Business Profile, ask recent customers for reviews and update directory entries.
  3. Month two: review the search queries in Search Console and add a real work example where a service or district is missing.
  4. Month three: count inquiries and applications by source and decide which pages deserve more depth.

Before you decide, settle three things: the site's first job, the languages it needs and who owns the legal texts. Firms that also serve the neighboring city can compare needs on our web design Wolfsburg page, and our portfolio shows live sites we built in Turkey.

When those answers are clear, a web design Salzgitter project moves quickly. Describe your company and audience in a few sentences through the contact form, in English, German or Turkish, and we will agree on the scope with you and send a written proposal.
