Hreflang: Showing the Right User the Page in the Right Language
Hreflang tags tell Google about different language or region versions of the same content, so a user in Turkey sees the Turkish and a user in Germany the German version. Set up correctly, it stops the wrong-language page from ranking and prevents language versions from cannibalizing each other. The tags can go in each page's <head>, the XML sitemap or an HTTP header; this tool produces the two most common, HTML link tags and sitemap format.
Hreflang has two classic mistakes everyone makes, and this tool solves both automatically: first, reciprocity — if page A points to B, then B must point back to A; otherwise Google ignores the whole set. Every page must include the full list of all language versions, itself included. Second, x-default — specifying a default version for users with no language/region match is essential if you have an international language selector or a main routing page. Language codes must follow ISO 639-1 (tr, en, de) and region codes ISO 3166-1 (TR, DE, AT).
