Web design for companies in Eastern Bavaria

Web Design in Regensburg

Regensburg mixes a car plant, semiconductor and sensor firms, two universities and a medieval old town on the Danube. Whether you sell components, run a lab startup or welcome visitors, your site has to work for German buyers and international readers alike. Talha Aslan and team build it fully online, with a written scope and progress you can follow in our CRM.

In short

Web design in Regensburg usually starts with German pages for local customers and authorities, plus English for international buyers, researchers and visitors. Regensburg produced 108,104 euros of GDP per resident in 2023, almost twice the Bavarian average, according to Bavaria's state statistics agency. Talha Aslan and team work with Regensburg companies fully online; Impressum, privacy policy and cookie consent are part of every build.

Regensburg's business profile

What does a website need to do in Regensburg?

Regensburg had 151,389 residents at the end of 2024 (Destatis), and the Bavarian State Office for Statistics puts its 2023 GDP at about 16.1 billion euros. Per resident, that output is higher than in Munich and most other large Bavarian cities. Four strengths of the Danube city decide what your website has to cover.

BMW's busiest European car plant

The BMW Group plant in Regensburg built 342,521 cars in 2024, the highest volume of any BMW vehicle plant in Europe; the X1 and X2 come off its line. Suppliers, logistics partners and service firms around it need clear capability pages, certificates and a quick route to a quote.

Semiconductors, sensors and biotech

The Regensburg chamber of commerce lists Infineon, Continental and Krones among the large employers in the city and district, and its BioRegio cluster brings together 40 companies with more than 2,400 staff. Technical products sell better with English datasheets, application pages and a contact for engineers.

A university town with international students

The University of Regensburg had 18,127 students in the 2026 summer semester, 1,430 of them international, and OTH Regensburg counted 11,134 in the winter semester starting 2025. Spinoffs need investor ready pages, while cafés, gyms and landlords need English information that loads fast on a phone.

A UNESCO World Heritage old town

The old town with Stadtamhof has been on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 2006. Regensburg recorded a record 1.365 million overnight stays in 2024, with Austria, the Netherlands and the United States as the leading foreign markets. Hotels, restaurants and shops gain from short English pages and accurate maps.

How we work

Our team is in Istanbul; your Regensburg site is built on screen

Talha Aslan and team work only from Istanbul; we have no branch, agent or employees in Germany. With a Regensburg firm, the first call, design sign off and launch day all happen by video in English or German. Istanbul runs one hour ahead of Bavaria in summer and two in winter, which leaves plenty of shared working time for calls with your engineers or managers.

Before designing anything we write down who the website must persuade: a purchasing team in the automotive chain, a research partner, a visiting family from Vienna or a new hire moving to the city. That list, the language versions, who provides the legal texts and the schedule form the written scope. If your travels take you through Istanbul, we can also sit down together there.

  • Kick off and needs analysis by video
  • Pages and languages agreed in writing
  • Design review with screen sharing
  • Live project status in our CRM
  • Short handover training at launch

Process

From brief to launch in four steps

  1. Discovery and scope

We define your business, your audience and the site’s one-sentence job: who it sells what to, through which action. Scope and timeline are written from that answer.

  2. Design approval

The home page and key templates come to you as designs first; no code is written before your approval. We do not like surprises, and we do not cause them.

  3. Development

The approved design becomes fast, secure, maintainable code. You follow progress in the CRM and see every page in a staging environment before launch.

  4. Launch and measurement

The site goes live with analytics, Search Console and conversion tracking connected; panel training is given, first-year hosting and maintenance included.

In-depth guide

Web Design Regensburg: Sites for Suppliers, Labs and Old Town Hosts

Talha Aslan and teamLast updated: 15 min read

This guide is written for companies in and around Regensburg that work partly or mainly in English: international suppliers with a Bavarian site, research spinoffs, tech firms hiring abroad, expat founders and hosts who welcome visitors from outside Germany. A web design Regensburg project for these businesses has to satisfy German rules and German readers while still speaking clearly to everyone else.

We, Talha Aslan and team, have arranged the topics in the order in which decisions come up. Each section gives you a check, a decision or a question you can put to any agency before you sign.

What Regensburg's economy expects from a website

A Regensburg website usually serves several audiences at once, so its first job is to tell each of them within seconds whether they are in the right place. The city had 151,389 residents at the end of 2024 according to Destatis, yet its economy reaches far beyond that size.

The Bavarian State Office for Statistics ranks Regensburg's 2023 output per resident well above Nuremberg and Augsburg. Behind that sit a BMW plant that, by the company's own figures, built 342,521 cars in 2024, semiconductor and sensor employers named by the chamber of commerce such as Infineon and Continental, the BioRegio cluster with 40 companies, two universities and a World Heritage old town that set an overnight stay record in 2024.

Before discussing layouts, rank the people your site must convince:

  • Procurement and quality teams: buyers who check processes, certifications and capacity before they ever send an inquiry.
  • Research and investment partners: readers who want the technology, the team and the funding status explained in plain English.
  • International hires: engineers, scientists and students deciding whether to move to a mid sized Bavarian city.
  • Visitors: guests from Austria, the Netherlands and the United States, the leading foreign markets in the 2024 tourism figures.

Pick one or two groups for the home page. Everyone else gets dedicated pages, so no reader has to scroll past content meant for someone else.

Who searches for what in and around Regensburg

Search behavior in Regensburg splits clearly by language, location and timing, and each pattern calls for a different kind of page. Mapping your own queries into these groups shows which pages you are missing.

  • English service queries: newcomers type "English speaking dentist Regensburg", "tax advisor for expats" or "apartment near OTH". They want proof that you actually serve English speakers.
  • German district queries: locals add the district, as in "Physiotherapie Kasernenviertel" or "Schlüsseldienst Weichs". Address, hours and a tappable phone number matter most here.
  • Technical sourcing: buyers search for a process or a standard, for example "contract PCB assembly Bavaria" or "cleanroom services", often with no city at all.
  • Semester timing: before summer and winter semesters, demand rises for rooms, language courses, bikes and gyms.
  • Visitor queries: river cruise passengers and day trippers look for tours, cafés and shops while walking through the old town.

Try this test on your phone: enter your five most important queries once in English, once in German and once with a district name such as Kumpfmühl or Burgweinting. Note whether map listings, directories or company sites appear first. That tells you whether the Business Profile or your own pages deserve the earlier effort.

Choosing a partner based outside Germany

A partner abroad works well when the process is written down, visible and easy to reach; distance is rarely the real risk. Talha Aslan and team work from Istanbul, and projects in Germany run fully online. Istanbul is one hour ahead of Germany in summer and two hours in winter, so working days overlap almost entirely.

A search for web design Regensburg mostly returns agencies based in the region. Ask every agency, wherever it sits, the same questions and get the answers in writing:

  • Language of the project: Can calls, documents and the admin interface run in English, with German reserved for the public site and legal pages.
  • Scope: Will you receive a list of every page, language version, form and integration before work starts.
  • Preview: Is there a password protected staging site you can open on your own phone at any time.
  • Response times: How quickly are questions answered, and through which channel.
  • Sign off: How do both sides know a phase is finished.

For international teams in Regensburg, a remote process often fits better than local meetings anyway, because decision makers may sit in another country. What matters is a short written summary after every call, so that anyone joining later can see what was decided and by whom.

Owning your domain, hosting, code and accounts

Everything that makes up your website should be registered to your company, so that switching providers later costs time but never control. For subsidiaries of international groups, check early whether the domain has to sit with headquarters or with the German entity.

  • Domain: a .de address registered through a registrar of your choice, with your company as the holder and your own login.
  • Hosting: a server inside the EU, which simplifies your privacy policy and the data processing agreement required by Art. 28 GDPR.
  • Code and content: the right to receive a full backup, including database and media files, whenever you ask.
  • Accounts: Search Console, Analytics, Google Business Profile, the consent tool and any booking or applicant system belong to you; the agency is added as a user.

At launch, ask for an access sheet listing every service, who holds the owner role and who has user rights. Store it where a colleague can find it during holidays or staff changes.

One revealing question for any agency: what exactly do we receive if we end the contract after a year. A complete, specific answer is a good sign. Vague wording about "our platform" is a reason to look closer before signing.

The project step by step, fully online

An online project moves through fixed steps that each end with written approval, so you always know where things stand. You can follow progress in our CRM, and calls run in English, German or Turkish.

  1. Kickoff call: audiences, competitors, languages and existing material, followed by written notes.
  2. Scope and quote: page list, features, who writes which text, who supplies the legal texts and the schedule.
  3. Structure and design: the sitemap first, then the home page and one typical inner page, shown by screen sharing.
  4. Build on staging: you review the protected preview on phone and desktop and collect comments in one place.
  5. Content and compliance: copy, photos, Impressum and privacy policy go in; cookie consent is configured.
  6. Launch and handover: redirects, Search Console and analytics are checked, and your team gets a short training session.

Meeting in person is never required. If business or travel takes you through Istanbul, we are glad to sit down together at our office in Ataşehir as an optional extra.

On your side, block fixed review slots in the calendar. In international teams, delays rarely come from the build; they come from waiting for approval from a manager in another time zone or for photos from the plant.

Local search in Regensburg and the surrounding district

For searches with a local angle, a well kept Google Business Profile, consistent directory data and an honest service area page matter more than anything else. Your profile name must match your real business name without added keywords, and businesses that visit customers rather than receive them can hide their address and set a service area.

  • Primary category: choose the one that describes your main service, not the broadest option available.
  • Service area: list real places such as Lappersdorf, Pentling, Regenstauf or Zeitlarn only where you actually work.
  • Directories: name, address and phone number should read the same on Gelbe Seiten, Das Örtliche and your own site.
  • Reviews in both languages: invite English speaking customers to review you as well; their reviews signal to other newcomers that you can help them.

Avoid dozens of near identical location pages such as "Plumber Sallern", "Plumber Prüfening", "Plumber Graß". Google treats these doorway pages as low quality. One service area page with real job examples from specific districts, travel notes and typical response times does the job better. For ongoing work on content and technical structure, see our search engine optimization service.

German first, with English and Turkish where they pay off

Even for an English speaking company, German usually remains the main language in Regensburg, because local customers, authorities and many applicants read German and the legal pages must be understandable to German users. The question is which second language deserves a full version.

  • English as an equal version: for biotech, semiconductor suppliers and spinoffs working with international partners, English pages need the same depth as German, including datasheets.
  • English as a compact version: the University of Regensburg had 1,430 international students in the 2026 summer semester; landlords, gyms, language schools and practices can reach them with a short English section.
  • Visitors: Austrian guests read German, while Dutch and American visitors are well served by a concise English overview.
  • Turkish: insurance brokers, real estate agents, care services or workshops with Turkish speaking clients gain trust with a dedicated Turkish version.

Technically, each language gets its own URLs and hreflang annotations that reference each other and themselves. You can build and check the tags with our hreflang generator. Machine translation widgets are no substitute: search engines usually do not treat the injected text as separate pages, and readers notice the quality.

Speed, EU hosting and security

Your site has to load quickly on a phone, stay visually stable and run securely; Google measures the first two with Core Web Vitals. The "good" thresholds at the 75th percentile of visits are: LCP, the time until the largest visible element appears, 2.5 seconds or less; INP, the delay before the page responds to input, 200 milliseconds or less; CLS, how much the layout shifts, 0.1 or less.

A common trap in Regensburg is the hero image: a wide shot of the cathedral, a Danube panorama or aerial footage of a production site, often several megabytes heavy. Keep these points in mind:

  • Images: modern formats such as WebP or AVIF, sizes matched to the screen and lazy loading below the fold.
  • Fonts: served from your own server; a Munich regional court awarded damages in 2022 because Google Fonts were loaded from Google servers without consent.
  • Hosting: an EU server with a data processing agreement, daily backups and a current PHP version.
  • Security: SSL, prompt updates, two factor login for every admin account and spam protection on forms.

Run your current home page and one inner page through our mobile friendly test and through PageSpeed Insights. If the values sit well above the thresholds, speed belongs at the top of the rebuild list, ahead of new colors or animations.

Industry examples from the Regensburg area

Each of Regensburg's industries needs different pages, and those pages reveal whether a site was built for the business or adapted from a template. A few typical cases:

  • Automotive and electronics suppliers: machinery, materials, tolerances, certifications, delivery radius and an inquiry form that accepts drawings, in English and German. Our page on websites for manufacturers shows the structure buyers expect.
  • Biotech and life science firms: application pages, downloadable datasheets, regulatory status explained carefully and a careers area aimed at researchers.
  • University spinoffs: the technology in plain words, team, funding, press and an investor page; see our notes on websites for startups.
  • Old town hosts and shops: rooms or products, opening hours, directions with parking garages and a short English overview.
  • Platforms and portals: booking flows, customer areas or internal tools often outgrow a standard site; our custom software development team builds these as separate applications.

Firms that also sell into the Munich area can compare search patterns there on our page about web design in Munich. Whatever your sector, start with the page that most often leads to an inquiry and build outward from it.

Legal basics for websites in Germany

A business website in Germany comes with a handful of duties that are easy to overlook if your group is headquartered elsewhere. We implement the technical side and show where each element belongs; please have the actual texts checked by a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt).

  • Impressum: under § 5 DDG, the Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz that replaced the Telemedia Act on 14 May 2024, business websites must name the provider with full contact details. Regulated professions add the chamber, the legal job title, the state that granted it and the professional rules.
  • Privacy policy: under the GDPR, explain what forms, hosting and embedded services do with personal data; tools such as booking systems need a data processing agreement under Art. 28.
  • Consent: under § 25 TDDDG, non essential cookies and similar access to devices require prior consent, which covers analytics, ads and many embedded maps or videos.
  • Accessibility: the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz has applied since 28 June 2025 to many consumer facing shops and services; micro enterprises offering services are exempt. Check whether it applies to you.
  • Online shops: the order button must say something like "zahlungspflichtig bestellen" (§ 312j BGB), and consumers need withdrawal information.

Agree before launch who supplies the legal texts and who updates them when a new service is added. Embedding a chat or a map often means the privacy policy has to change too.

Relaunching without losing rankings

A relaunch only puts rankings at risk when old URLs disappear without redirects or valuable content is dropped. With careful planning, the new site inherits what the old one earned. Work in this order:

  1. Inventory: collect every old URL from the sitemap, Search Console and a crawl into one sheet.
  2. Flag valuable pages: Search Console shows which pages earn clicks and links; their content stays or improves.
  3. Map redirects: each old URL gets a permanent 301 redirect to the matching new page, never a blanket redirect to the home page.
  4. Protect staging: use a password. Blocking the preview only in robots.txt is not enough, because Google cannot then read a noindex tag.
  5. Monitor after launch: submit the new sitemap, check coverage reports daily for the first weeks and add missing redirects.

Suppliers should include old PDF datasheets and certificates in the inventory, since buyers often bookmark or link them. Our page on website redesign explains how we plan this phase in more detail.

Common mistakes on Regensburg websites and better options

Most weaknesses on existing sites are not about design but about missing information at the moment someone makes a decision. Check your own site against these patterns before you brief a web design Regensburg agency:

  • Postcard photos instead of offers: the cathedral and the Stone Bridge in the header say nothing about what you do. Better: a photo from your own operation and one sentence on what you do for whom.
  • English by widget: machine translated overlays look unfinished to research partners and guests. Better: a few properly written English pages with hreflang.
  • English only: some international firms publish no German at all, which confuses local customers and applicants. Better: German core pages plus full English.
  • Careers as a footnote: a single line saying "we are hiring" loses against the large employers in the region. Better: dedicated job pages with tasks, working hours, relocation help and a short application path.
  • Fonts and maps without consent: external services load before anyone agrees. Better: local fonts and a map that loads after a click.
  • Outdated details: old hours or expired certificates cost trust. Better: a fixed quarterly date on which someone reviews every fact.

Mark every point that applies to your current site. The result is already a useful starting brief for the first call.

What drives the budget, and what does not

Effort depends on scope and features, not on the city where your company sits, so web design Regensburg clients choose from the same packages as anyone else. When comparing quotes, look at these drivers:

  • Pages and languages: every language version means its own copy, review and maintenance.
  • Features: inquiries with file upload, appointment booking, member areas or product configurators take more work than a simple form.
  • Content: it makes a big difference whether you supply text and photos or whether copy has to be written and photos taken on site.
  • Integrations: connections to ERP, CRM, applicant tracking or booking systems require coordination with other vendors.
  • Approval layers: group compliance, brand guidelines and legal review at headquarters add review rounds that belong in the schedule.

What does not drive results is decorative animation or a large number of pages without their own content. Both add effort without adding inquiries. Ask every agency to itemize its quote so that you can line up comparable services side by side.

The first 90 days and your next step

The first three months after launch decide whether the site produces inquiries in daily business, and a simple plan is enough to steer them. For every web design Regensburg project we plan this phase from the start.

  1. Month one: check Search Console and consent based analytics, test every form, align the Business Profile and directories with the new site.
  2. Month two: review the first search queries, add missing answers to service pages and ask customers for reviews.
  3. Month three: rework pages with many visits and few inquiries, then plan a further language version or careers page if the need is visible.

Our fixed price packages are listed on the pricing page; multilingual setups and custom features are priced in a written quote. Our references are all live projects in Türkiye; we have not yet completed a project in Germany.

To start, send a short message through our contact form with three details: your company, your most important audience and your current website address, if you have one. We will then set up a video call about web design Regensburg priorities and send you a written scope and quote.
