Web design for firms in the Siegerland

Web Design in Siegen

Many companies around Siegen sell machinery, components and services to buyers far beyond Germany, while the university brings researchers and students from abroad into the city. Talha Aslan and team build fast websites that explain technical capability in English and German, include the German legal pages, and run the whole project online with a written scope and live progress in our CRM.

In short

Web design in Siegen usually means showing technical capability clearly to buyers at home and abroad, in German and English, with German duties such as the Impressum and cookie consent covered. According to the Siegen chamber of commerce, about 43% of employees in its district work in production industries, against roughly a quarter across North Rhine-Westphalia. Talha Aslan and team work with Siegen companies fully online.

Siegen's business profile

What should a website do for a company in Siegen?

Siegen had 102,685 residents at the end of 2024 (Destatis), and the labour market region served by the local chamber of commerce counts more than 400,000 people. Four strengths of this university city on the Sieg shape what a website here has to deliver.

An industrial Mittelstand region

The Siegen chamber's brochure "Überblick in Zahlen 2025" shows about 43% of employees in its district working in production industries, against roughly a quarter in North Rhine-Westphalia; most firms are owner managed. A supplier's site has to make machines, materials and certifications easy for a purchasing team to check.

A university in the city centre

IT.NRW counted around 14,400 students at the University of Siegen in winter semester 2024 (provisional), and the business faculty teaches at the Unteres Schloss campus in the heart of the city. Researchers, spin offs and student facing businesses benefit from clear English pages that load fast on a phone.

Birthplace of Rubens

The Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens was born in Siegen, and the Siegerlandmuseum in the Oberes Schloss shows nine of his original paintings. Shops, cafés and guesthouses in the Oberstadt need opening hours, directions and event dates that visitors can find in English and German.

Where three states meet

Siegen lies just northwest of the point where North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate meet, and is connected to the A45 motorway. Trades, carriers and service firms win customers on both sides of the state lines, so a clearly described service area matters more than city limits.

How we work

Your Siegen project, run from Istanbul over video

Talha Aslan and team work only from Istanbul; we have no office, agent or employees in Germany. With companies in Siegen, the kickoff, design walkthrough and launch all happen on video calls with screen sharing, in English or German. Istanbul is one hour ahead of Germany in summer and two in winter, so a slot early in your day is easy to find.

Before design starts, we write down who the site must convince: a purchasing team in Germany, an engineer abroad, a future apprentice or a local customer, and in which language each of them reads. That decision, who supplies the legal texts and the delivery dates go into the quote; if business takes you to Istanbul, we can also sit down together there.

  • Pages, languages and dates in writing
  • Every stage visible live in our CRM

Process

From brief to launch in four steps

  1. Discovery and scope

We define your business, your audience and the site’s one-sentence job: who it sells what to, through which action. Scope and timeline are written from that answer.

  2. Design approval

The home page and key templates come to you as designs first; no code is written before your approval. We do not like surprises, and we do not cause them.

  3. Development

The approved design becomes fast, secure, maintainable code. You follow progress in the CRM and see every page in a staging environment before launch.

  4. Launch and measurement

The site goes live with analytics, Search Console and conversion tracking connected; panel training is given, first-year hosting and maintenance included.

Web Design Siegen: Sites for Suppliers, Researchers and Expats

Talha Aslan and teamLast updated: 15 min read

This guide is for people who run or start a business in Siegen and work partly or mostly in English: export managers at component suppliers, founders of university spin offs, international engineers setting up a consultancy, and expats opening a studio, practice or shop. Web design Siegen projects for this audience mean one site that a German purchasing department, a buyer abroad and a newcomer to the city can all use without friction.

We, Talha Aslan and team, have ordered the topics the way decisions arrive during a real project. Each section ends with something you can check yourself, a question to put to any agency, or a decision worth writing down.

What a Website Has to Prove in Siegen's Economy

In Siegen, a company website mainly has to prove capability to people who already know the trade. According to the IHK Siegen brochure "Überblick in Zahlen 2025", about 43 percent of employees subject to social insurance in the chamber district work in production industries, compared with roughly a quarter across NRW as a whole. Many visitors to your site will be engineers and buyers comparing suppliers on facts.

The city itself had 102,685 residents at the end of 2024 according to Destatis, while the labor market region served by the chamber counts more than 400,000 people. That combination, a compact city with a wide industrial hinterland, sets the job description for the site:

  • State the capability precisely: processes, materials, tolerances, batch sizes and certifications on their own pages rather than in a single paragraph.
  • Show who owns the company: most firms in the region are owner managed, and buyers like to see a named person accountable for quality.
  • Make inquiries easy: a form that accepts drawings, a direct phone number and a clear answer time.
  • Serve both languages: German for domestic customers and authorities, English for buyers abroad and international hires.

Before any design work, write one sentence describing the visitor whose inquiry matters most to you. Every later decision gets measured against that sentence.

Who Searches in Siegen and How They Phrase It

Search behavior around Siegen splits into four groups, and each group needs a different kind of page. Knowing which group drives your revenue tells you which pages to build first.

  • Technical buyers: they rarely type a city name. They search for a process and material, such as "laser cutting stainless steel" or "Schweißbaugruppen Lohnfertigung", so each service deserves a detailed page in German and English.
  • Local customers: they search with a district or "in der Nähe", for example "Zahnarzt Weidenau" or "Fahrradwerkstatt Geisweid", and decide from the map results.
  • Students and researchers: IT.NRW counted around 14,400 students at the University of Siegen in winter semester 2024 (provisional). Many search in English for housing help, tutoring, translation or a hairdresser who speaks English.
  • Visitors: people coming to see the Rubens paintings at the Siegerlandmuseum in the Oberes Schloss look up opening hours, cafés and directions on their phones.

There is also a seasonal rhythm. Semester start in the fall brings a wave of English searches from new arrivals, while spring is when apprenticeship candidates look at company career pages. In any web design Siegen plan, schedule content updates a few weeks ahead of both windows. After launch, replace guesswork with Search Console data: after three months it shows the queries you actually appear for, and that list is a better roadmap than any brainstorm.

Working With a Team Based in Istanbul

Hiring a web team outside Germany works well when the scope is written, progress is visible and access stays with you. Talha Aslan and team work only from Istanbul; we have no branch, representative or employees in Germany, and we say so at the start.

For an international founder in Siegen, a remote process is often familiar already. The questions to ask any remote agency stay the same:

  1. Will I receive a written scope with the page list, languages, forms and milestones before signing?
  2. Can I test the design on a live preview link on my own phone, not only as screenshots?
  3. Are meetings held by video with screen sharing, in English or German, at times that suit my schedule?
  4. Who sets up the German legal pages technically, and who supplies their wording?
  5. After launch, how do I report a problem, and how quickly is it acknowledged?

The time difference is small: Istanbul is one hour ahead of Germany in summer and two hours ahead in winter. Calls before a lab session or after the end of a production shift are easy to arrange. You can review earlier work on our references page; every project there was delivered in Turkey, and we state that openly rather than implying German clients we do not have.

Keeping the Domain, Server and Code in Your Name

Every digital asset of your website should be registered to your company, not to the agency that built it. This matters even more for spin offs and young companies, where shareholders, investors or a later acquirer may ask who controls the domain.

  • The .de domain: register it with a registrar directly in the company's name. Check the holder entry in the public lookup once the domain is live.
  • Hosting: choose a server located in the EU, with the contract and invoices in your name, and request the data processing agreement required under Art. 28 GDPR.
  • Source code and assets: at handover, ask for a complete backup, a list of plugins and libraries with their licenses, and the original design files.
  • Accounts: you should be the owner of Google Business Profile, Search Console and analytics; the agency is added as a user and removed when the work ends.
  • E-mail: keep business addresses on your own domain and document the DNS records they rely on.

Send this list with your request for a quote and ask for a written answer to each line. With us, the first year of hosting is included; afterward you may stay with the same provider or move elsewhere at any time. If you move, make sure the MX, SPF and DKIM records travel with the site so that e-mail delivery is not interrupted.

Project Steps From First Call to Launch

A Siegen project runs fully online, and every step ends with something concrete you can approve. The sequence below is the one we follow.

  1. Discovery call: a video call with screen sharing where we review your current site, two or three competitors and the visitor sentence from the first section.
  2. Written scope: page list, languages, forms, legal text responsibilities and dates in a single document.
  3. Content collection: product data, certificates, photos of the shop floor or lab and team portraits go into a shared folder; open items appear in our CRM.
  4. Design preview: the home page and one inner page go live on a preview link for testing on phone and desktop.
  5. Build and testing: we check speed, form delivery, consent banner behavior and the switch between English and German.
  6. Launch and handover: the site goes live, and a recorded walkthrough shows your team how to edit content.

Our team works from Istanbul, and projects in Germany run remotely from start to finish. If you happen to travel to Istanbul, you are welcome to meet us at our office in Ataşehir, but it is never required at any stage.

Local Search Across the Siegerland Without Doorway Pages

Local visibility in Siegen rests on an accurate Google Business Profile and a website that repeats exactly the same details. The business name on the profile must match the name you use in the real world; adding "Siegen" or a service keyword to it breaks Google's guidelines.

Service area businesses, such as an IT support consultant who visits clients or a cleaning company, may hide their address and define the area they serve instead. Around Siegen that area often includes Kreuztal, Netphen, Wilnsdorf and Freudenberg, and sometimes communities across the state lines in Hesse or Rheinland-Pfalz.

  • District names: mention only the parts of the city where you actually work or are located, such as an office in Weidenau or regular clients in Eiserfeld.
  • One service area page: describe the region once, with real examples of typical jobs, instead of cloning near identical pages for every village.
  • German directories: keep name, address and phone identical in Gelbe Seiten, Das Örtliche and relevant trade listings.
  • Reviews: send a short review link after each completed job and reply to every review briefly, in the language it was written in.

Pages that differ only by the town name are what Google calls doorway pages, and they can hurt rather than help. Our wider approach to local and technical search is described on our SEO services page.

English Alongside German: Getting the Balance Right

Even an English speaking founder in Siegen usually needs German as the primary language of the site. Domestic customers, public bodies, banks and the legally required pages all expect German, and most local searches happen in German.

  • When English pays off: export oriented suppliers, research driven startups, companies hiring international engineers and businesses serving the university's international students.
  • When Turkish adds value: firms with many Turkish speaking customers, for example in insurance, healthcare, legal advice or vehicle repair, gain trust with a focused Turkish section.
  • When a second language becomes a burden: if nobody on the team can keep it current, an outdated English section undermines credibility faster than having none.

Each language version should live on its own URLs and be connected with hreflang annotations, which tell Google which page is the equivalent in another language. Every version references the others and itself. Avoid machine translation widgets; a buyer who reads awkward technical English will doubt the precision of your parts. Our multilingual website page explains the structure in detail.

A practical start is to translate the pages that carry the inquiry: services, capability, certifications, contact and careers. Extend the English section once Search Console shows which topics international visitors actually reach. That staged approach keeps a web design Siegen budget manageable for a small team.

Speed, EU Hosting and Security Basics

A fast site is a precondition for everything else, because buyers on a trade trip and students on a phone abandon slow pages. Google measures this experience with Core Web Vitals and considers the following thresholds good at the 75th percentile of visits:

  • LCP (largest contentful paint): how quickly the largest image or text block appears; 2.5 seconds or less.
  • INP (interaction to next paint): how quickly the page responds to a tap or click; 200 milliseconds or less.
  • CLS (cumulative layout shift): how much the layout jumps while loading; 0.1 or less.

On supplier and research sites the usual culprits are oversized photos of machines or lab equipment, embedded PDF datasheets and autoplay videos. Convert images to WebP, offer datasheets as downloads, and show a still preview before a video loads.

Host on an EU server with daily automatic backups and a valid TLS certificate. Load fonts from your own server rather than from Google's: in January 2022 the Regional Court of Munich awarded damages over Google Fonts loaded without consent. Turn on two factor login for the admin area, remove unused plugins, and set a file size limit and allowed formats, such as STEP and PDF, for drawing uploads.

Siegen Sector Patterns From Spin Offs to Suppliers

Siegen's mix of heavy industry, a large university and a cultural old town produces distinct website types, and each one needs its own structure. Using one template for all of them is the most common reason a site looks fine but brings no inquiries.

  • Contract manufacturers: one page per process with materials, tolerances and batch sizes, plus an upload form for drawings; the CNC and contract manufacturing website page shows a suitable structure.
  • Component and spare parts suppliers: a searchable catalog by part number with downloadable datasheets, as described on our catalog website page.
  • University spin offs: a clear explanation of the technology for non specialists, team profiles with academic background, publications and a contact path for industry partners.
  • Language and relocation services: English pages for newly arrived researchers and their families, with services, response times and a simple booking form.
  • Oberstadt shops and cafés: opening hours, directions from the Oberes Schloss and short English information for museum visitors.

The shared rule is that every site leads to one obvious action. For a supplier it is sending a drawing, for a spin off it is booking a meeting with the founders, and for a café it is finding the door. Build the page structure backward from that action; in every web design Siegen brief we ask about it first.

German Legal Basics That Apply to English Sites

Publishing in English does not exempt a Siegen business from German law; the legal pages simply need to be reachable from every language version. The main points to plan for are these.

  • Impressum: required for business websites under § 5 DDG (Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz), with company name, address, contact details and, where applicable, register and VAT numbers. Regulated professions add their chamber, legal job title and professional rules.
  • Privacy policy: a Datenschutzerklärung that meets the GDPR whenever personal data is processed, which includes contact forms.
  • Cookie consent: under § 25 TDDDG, non essential cookies and tracking may only run after the visitor agrees.
  • Accessibility: the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz has applied since 28 June 2025 to many consumer facing online shops and services; micro enterprises offering services are exempt, so check whether it applies to you.
  • Online shops: under § 312j BGB the order button must state clearly that the order involves payment, for example "zahlungspflichtig bestellen", and consumers need withdrawal information.

We implement the technical side: page structure, consent tool, form behavior and font hosting. The wording should come from a Rechtsanwalt or a reputable legal text service, because the content depends on your own data flows.

Relaunching an Existing Site Safely

The main risk in a relaunch is that old URLs disappear without redirects and pages that ranked for years drop out of search. Many Siegen suppliers have had the same site structure for a long time, so the risk is real.

  1. Export the pages with the most impressions and clicks from Search Console before anything changes.
  2. Crawl the old site and map every URL to its new equivalent in a spreadsheet.
  3. Set a permanent 301 redirect for each old URL to its closest match, never all of them to the home page.
  4. Carry over titles and descriptions that already perform, adjusting only what is outdated.
  5. Submit the new XML sitemap on launch day and check the indexing report daily for two weeks.

Once live, you can test individual redirects with our redirect checker. Watch for two other classic errors: a staging copy left open to indexing, and a robots.txt block carried over from development. Google cannot read a noindex on a page blocked in robots.txt, so a page meant to stay out of the index must be crawlable and carry noindex.

Common Mistakes on Siegen Company Websites

The recurring problems on regional business sites are mostly decisions about content and structure, not technology. Each mistake below comes with a better alternative.

  • Listing machines instead of capabilities: brand and model names do not tell a buyer what you can produce; describe each process with materials, tolerances and batch sizes.
  • Burying the catalog in one large PDF: it opens poorly on phones and is invisible to search; split product groups into pages and offer the PDF as a download.
  • An English section that stops at the home page: international buyers click once and land in German; translate the inquiry path completely or not at all.
  • No defined service area: a customer in Netphen cannot tell whether you come out there; describe the area once, clearly.
  • Ignoring recruitment: the chamber reports 1,703 apprenticeship contracts in industry and trade in its district in 2025, so candidates are actively looking; add a careers page with real photos and a short application form.
  • An incomplete Impressum: missing register numbers or responsible persons are easy to overlook; check against a list before launch and have a lawyer review it.

What Shapes the Budget

The cost of a website depends on scope, not on the city; a company in Siegen sees the same packages and terms as our clients in Turkey. These are the decisions that move the budget:

  • Volume of pages and content: a ten page consultancy site and a catalog with hundreds of parts are different projects.
  • Number of languages: each language adds writing, legal page versions and hreflang setup.
  • Special functions: drawing uploads, product filters, appointment booking, member areas or an online shop.
  • Who produces the content: whether you supply texts and photos or expect copywriting and image editing from us.
  • Integrations: connections to ERP, inventory, CRM or accounting software.

Things that do not change the budget include your district, your company size and whether you are located in Germany or Turkey. You can see what each fixed price package includes on our web design service page.

When you request a quote, prepare the page list, the languages you need and the address of your current site. The clearer the brief, the fewer surprises later. On a web design Siegen project this preparation usually shortens the scoping call considerably.

The First 90 Days and Your Next Step

Launch is the start of the useful phase, because the first three months show whether the site produces inquiries. For web design Siegen clients we suggest dividing that period into three blocks.

  1. Days 1 to 30: connect Search Console and analytics with consent, confirm that forms and phone taps are measured, and align your Business Profile with the site.
  2. Days 31 to 60: review which queries bring impressions, rewrite titles and descriptions of pages that are seen but not clicked, and collect the first reviews.
  3. Days 61 to 90: add a page for the service that attracts the most interest, extend the English section where international visitors arrive, and compare inquiries by source.

At the end of this period you know from data which page earns inquiries and where effort pays off. For a supplier the next step is often a fuller English catalog; for a spin off it may be a page for industry partners or investors.

If you also serve customers further north along the A45, our web design Hagen page covers that end of the corridor. You can review the packages in our pricing section and tell us about your project through the contact page. Include your current site address and the type of customer you most want to win, and the first call can go straight to concrete decisions.
