Duzce sits on the main corridor between Istanbul and Ankara, and within one green valley it combines hazelnut orchards, five organized industrial zones and a stretch of Black Sea coast at Akçakoca. That mix means a Duzce company website is read by very different people: a confectionery buyer in Europe asking for samples, a sourcing engineer comparing new suppliers, or a family looking for a sea view room for the weekend.
This guide from Talha Aslan and team walks through the decisions a business owner should settle before starting a web design project in Duzce, in the order they usually come up. Each section gives questions to put to an agency, checks you can run yourself and page structures that fit the province's own industries.
01What a Website Has to Do in Duzce's Economy
A Duzce website should first know which part of the local economy it serves, because the province's strength rests on three very different pillars. According to TÜİK crop data for 2023, Duzce harvested 67,000 tonnes of hazelnuts from 632,000 decares of orchards. That is roughly a tenth of Turkey's 650,000 tonne total and places the province fifth nationally.
Alongside hazelnuts there are five organized industrial zones. Duzce OSB, Duzce 2nd OSB and Gümüşova OSB are operating, while infrastructure work continues at Çilimli OSB and the Akçakoca iron and steel specialized zone. The third pillar is tourism: the Akçakoca coast, the Güzeldere waterfall, the ancient city at Konuralp and the highland plateaus inland.
- For a hazelnut processor: the site works as a sales file that shows product types, sizing, packaging and the sample process at a glance.
- For a manufacturer in an industrial zone: the site is a supplier profile that gives a purchasing team enough detail to add you to a request for quotation.
- For a guesthouse or campsite: the site is a shop window where a guest finds rooms, location and contact details on a phone within seconds.
- For a roadside business: the site is a short, clear page that a traveler between Istanbul and Ankara finds when looking for a meal, a service or a place to stop.
Deciding in writing which of these roles comes first makes every later choice easier, from the menu to the first sentence on the home page.
02Who Searches for Duzce Businesses, and When
Search demand around Duzce shifts with sector and season, and a site's content calendar should follow it. TÜİK figures for 2025 put the population at 415,622, of whom 267,249 live in the central district, which is why most local service searches start there.
- Harvest: hazelnut business picks up in late summer, when foreign buyers ask about the new crop, stock levels and shipping schedules.
- Beach season: accommodation searches for Akçakoca peak in the summer months and are often phrased as "near the sea" or "family guesthouse".
- Nature trips: visitors heading to the Güzeldere waterfall in Gölyaka or the Topuk plateau combine their search with directions and places to eat nearby.
- Supplier searches: purchasing teams search all year and often add a process such as casting, glass or automotive components, sometimes with the zone name.
International buyers rarely search for a Turkish province by name. A European importer types "Turkish hazelnut kernels supplier" or "roasted hazelnut paste manufacturer Turkey", which means your English pages have to answer the product question first and mention Duzce as the origin second.
To apply this to your own business, sort last year's phone calls and e-mail inquiries by month. Seeing which question rises in which month tells you which page to bring forward and when,.
03Working With a Team Outside the Province
Our work with Duzce businesses runs fully online, and in that model you choose a partner by how clearly it documents its process, not by how close it is. We have no office in Duzce and do not pretend otherwise. A written scope, regular video calls and a tracking system for every step replace the drive across town.
Ask every agency you speak with the following questions, and request the answers in writing:
- Sector understanding: Can they explain what a hazelnut buyer or a sourcing engineer looks for first on a supplier site?
- Photo plan: Will they give you a concrete shot list for your plant, machines and orchards, or do they suggest stock images?
- Language skills: Who writes the English and German copy, and is any of it machine translated?
- Approval points: When do you see the design, and does coding ever start before you sign off?
- Live work: Which of their sites in related sectors can you open on your phone today?
For that last question, ask for live addresses rather than slide decks. Our published work is on our references page; the closest example is Sade Home Design in Karadeniz Ereğli, the eastern neighbor of Akçakoca. None of these projects is in Duzce, but they cover production, logistics and coastal hospitality, which sit close to the province's own sectors.
04Domain, Hosting, Code and Account Ownership
Your company should own every asset connected to its website, and the contract should say so before work begins. In family businesses it is common to find that the domain was registered years ago under a relative's or a former employee's name, and nobody knows when it expires.
Before the project starts, write down who holds each of the following:
- Domain name: registered to the company's legal name with a company e-mail address, with renewal notices going to more than one person.
- Hosting: the main login belongs to you; the agency is added as an authorized user only.
- Source code and media: a complete copy of the code, images and documents is handed over at launch.
- Google accounts: Business Profile, Search Console and Analytics are opened under your company account, with the agency granted manager access.
Exporters have one more reason to care. Whether your quotations reach a buyer's inbox or land in spam depends on correct SPF and DKIM records, and those records live in the domain's control panel. Knowing who can change that panel is a sales issue, not only a technical one.
05Step by Step: An Online Project Timeline
Every stage of a Duzce project moves forward through video calls and written approvals, so seeing the full timeline at the start keeps things moving. If you are in Istanbul, we can also meet at our Ataşehir office by appointment, but that is an option, not a requirement.
- Discovery call: we talk about your products, your buyers and where current inquiries come from, then send a written summary.
- Scope document: each page, its intended reader, its languages and its forms are fixed in one document.
- Shot list: we list every photo needed of the plant, machinery, products, orchards or rooms; your own team or a local photographer can shoot it.
- Design review: the home page and one inner page are presented on a video call, and nothing is coded without your approval.
- Build and content entry: you follow progress in our tracking system and test pages on your phone on a staging address.
- Launch and training: the site goes live, measurement is set up and a recorded training session on the content panel is handed over.
What delays a schedule most is rarely the technical work; it is late copy and late photos. If the project overlaps with harvest or the beach season, plan the photo shoot before the busy weeks.
06Local Search in Duzce: Business Profile and Districts
Local visibility starts with your Google Business Profile and your website giving the same information in the same form. In a province with eight districts, namely central Duzce, Akçakoca, Gölyaka, Kaynaşlı, Çilimli, Gümüşova, Cumayeri and Yığılca, the district and, for factories, the industrial zone should be stated clearly.
Google's guidelines require the profile name to match the real world business name, with no added keywords. A name like "Akçakoca Guesthouse Sea View Cheapest Rooms" breaks that rule and raises the risk of suspension. Service area businesses that travel to customers, such as a heating technician, may hide their address.
- Real query patterns: searches such as "Gümüşova OSB casting", "Kaynaşlı car service", "Akçakoca guesthouse by the sea" or "Konuralp breakfast" should be reflected naturally in your page titles.
- Directions: for plants inside an industrial zone, give the plot or street and the truck entrance; it saves time for carriers and visiting auditors.
- Photos and reviews: adding real photos regularly and replying to each review in a short, personal way builds trust.
Do not create thin pages for every district where only the place name changes; search engines may treat them as doorway pages. A page with genuinely local information is enough for each place where you really have a branch or a regular service. For longer term visibility, see what our SEO service covers.
07When English and German Versions Pay Off
A second language earns its keep only when your buyers actually read it; in Duzce that need arises mainly for hazelnut exporters, wood product manufacturers and component suppliers with foreign customers. For guesthouses, whose guests mostly come from within Turkey, a second language can usually wait.
Food buyers across Europe generally correspond in English, while a German product page clearly eases first contact for a company selling into Germany, Austria or Switzerland. Çilimli OSB, which specializes in wood and is being built as a green industrial zone from the start, is one of the places where this question will come up most, because European furniture buyers want to read about material sourcing and production in their own language.
Before deciding, sort your quotations from the past two years by country and note the language of each exchange. If a language appears regularly, adding a version makes sense. Technically, each language version needs hreflang annotations pointing to the others and to itself; without these reciprocal signals, Google may not match each version to the right market. You can draft those tags with our hreflang generator.
Once you add a language, building the structure along the lines of our multilingual website guide makes later additions easier. The key rule is to write each version around the questions of buyers in that market rather than pasting in machine output.
08Speed, Hosting and Security With Heavy Images
The most common speed problem on Duzce websites is uploading high resolution photos of plants, products and scenery as they come off the camera. A furniture catalog or a waterfall gallery that is not prepared properly shows a blank screen on a phone for several seconds.
Google's Core Web Vitals give a useful target, measured at the 75th percentile of visits. LCP, the time until the largest element appears, should be 2.5 seconds or less; INP, which measures how quickly the page reacts to a tap, should be 200 milliseconds or less; CLS, which measures how much the layout shifts while loading, should be 0.1 or less.
- Images: converting photos to modern formats such as WebP or AVIF and sizing them to the screen keeps galleries light.
- Documents: product sheets and quality certificates belong in separate, compressed PDF files, not embedded as images.
- Security: an SSL certificate, current software, regular backups and spam protection on forms are the baseline for any site with a quote form.
- Hosting: exporters should also check that the server responds quickly enough for visitors in both Turkey and Europe.
Before we talk, you can check how your current site behaves on a phone with our mobile friendly test.
09Page Structures for Duzce's Key Sectors
Each of Duzce's strong sectors serves a different reader and a different decision, so the page structure should change by sector.
- Hazelnut processors: separate pages for kernels, roasted kernels, paste and flour, with crop year, storage conditions and a sample request form. Before writing health claims such as "good for the heart" on a product page, check with a food regulation advisor, because health claims on food are tightly regulated. The base structure is on our farm business website page.
- Component and machine makers: capability pages per process, a machine list, tolerance and material information, and a quote form that accepts technical drawings. Details are on our manufacturing company website page.
- Wood producers around Çilimli: product groups, wood species and finish options, installation photos and a dealer application; the zone's green identity is a concrete point for buyers who ask about sustainability.
- Coastal and highland stays: room or pitch pages, a seasonal gallery, distances to the Genoese castle and the Güzeldere waterfall, and quick requests through WhatsApp. A similar setup is on our campsite website page.
For cafés and restaurants around Konuralp, the ancient city of Prusias ad Hypium, whose history reaches back to the 3rd century BC, offers a strong story for a short route page. A page that suggests a walking route answers far more search questions than a menu alone.
10Legal Basics: KVKK, Cookies and Online Sales
Any Duzce website that collects data through a form needs an information notice under Article 10 of Turkey's data protection law, KVKK (Law No. 6698). Quote forms, sample requests and booking inquiries all collect personal data, so the notice should be easy to reach right next to each form.
- Information notice: explain in plain language which data you process, for what purpose, who receives it and how people can exercise their rights.
- Cookies: the safe approach is not to run non essential analytics or advertising cookies before the visitor has made a choice; for visitors from the European Economic Area, Google also requires consent mode for measurement and personalized advertising features.
- Online sales: if you sell packed hazelnuts or hazelnut paste to consumers through the site, you need a distance sales contract, a pre contract information form and a withdrawal notice.
- Certificates: show only quality and food certificates you actually hold, with their validity dates.
Because the details of distance selling and registration duties vary by product and sales model, have the texts reviewed by a lawyer or your accountant before launch. If you plan to sell online, payment, shipping and stock are planned as part of our e-commerce service. If a booking form asks guests for identity details, the notice should also explain why that data is requested.
11Redesigning Without Losing Search Rankings
When an established Duzce company site is rebuilt, the real risk is not the design but the loss of addresses Google already knows. A link from an old hazelnut product page or an industrial zone supplier directory goes nowhere once the address changes.
- Take inventory: list every address on the old site and every page that receives traffic in Search Console.
- Map: connect each old address to its closest equivalent on the new site with a 301 redirect; do not send everything to the home page.
- Carry content over: move pages that bring traffic into the new structure instead of deleting them, and update them where needed.
- Test safely: keep the staging site out of the index with noindex, but do not block it in robots.txt, or Google cannot read the noindex tag.
- Monitor: in the weeks after launch, watch the error reports and impressions in Search Console.
On sites with language versions, check redirects separately for each language; an English page that redirects to its Turkish equivalent greets a foreign buyer in the wrong language.
12Six Common Mistakes on Duzce Company Sites
Most recurring mistakes on Duzce business sites come from never deciding who the site is for. Each item below pairs the mistake with a better alternative.
- Everything on one page: hazelnut products, plant introduction and contact details crammed into one long scroll; instead, build separate sections and separate forms for each type of buyer.
- Stock photos for a factory: another country's plant or a generic hazelnut image undermines trust; commission a short shoot of your own facility and products.
- Capacity claims without proof: phrases like "extensive machine park" tell a buyer nothing; list machine names, quantities and workable dimensions.
- Machine translated English: automated copy reads as careless to an importer; have product pages written in the buyer's terminology and approved by you.
- Guesthouse sites frozen in one season: last summer's offer is still online in winter; set up seasonal pages you can change from the panel in minutes.
- Launching without measurement: calls, WhatsApp messages and form inquiries go untracked; record every inquiry with its source from launch day.
Put this list next to your current site and tick off each item.
13What Drives Scope and Budget
Our prices do not change by city; the budget for a Duzce project is set by its scope, not its location. Clarifying the items below before asking for quotes lets you compare offers on equal terms.
- Number of languages: each extra language means copy written for that market, separate measurement and separate upkeep, not just translation.
- Products and pages: a hazelnut catalog with many sizes and pack options, or a furniture range with hundreds of items, increases content entry.
- Custom forms: a quote form that accepts drawings, a sample request or a dealer application needs extra development.
- Integrations: booking engines, CRM connections or stock imports are planned separately.
- Photo and video: who shoots and who edits the images affects both the schedule and the scope.
When comparing quotes, look past the total and read what the scope document includes and excludes. Post launch support, panel training and responsibility for content updates should all be written down.
14The First 90 Days and Your Next Step
The value of a Duzce company site starts to show in the first three months after launch, and in that period measuring and making small fixes does more good than another redesign.
- Days 1 to 30: check Search Console and Analytics data, confirm forms and the WhatsApp link work on every device, and align your Business Profile with the site.
- Days 31 to 60: see which pages bring inquiries; hazelnut companies update stock news before harvest, guesthouses refresh their seasonal page.
- Days 61 to 90: rewrite pages that get views but no inquiries, and decide on a new language or product group based on real data.
If you run a Duzce business and are ready to decide, start by looking at our packages; fixed price options are in the pricing section of our web design page. For projects that need extra languages, product sheets or custom forms, a short description of your product, plant or guests is enough. Write to us through our contact page, and after a free video call we send the page list, timeline and quote in writing.
