TikTok Agency Badge: What It Means and How to Verify It

What is the TikTok agency badge?
The TikTok agency badge is a recognition mark inside TikTok's official Marketing Partners programme. Also, TikTok reviews agencies and lists the ones with proven expertise in TikTok marketing. In practice, the badge signals platform skill. In addition, it does not promise sales results, a fair price or a good fit for your business.
This guide relies only on what TikTok writes on its own Business pages. Programme names and tiers change from time to time, so we name the official page you should check in each section.
Our goal is simple. Still, when an agency says it is "TikTok approved", you should know what to ask, what to verify and where to stop.
Because the badge works as a first filter, treat it as a starting point for your questions rather than the final answer.
What is the TikTok Marketing Partners programme and which badges does it give?
According to TikTok's Marketing Partners page, the programme covers four partner types: Agency, Creative, Measurement and Marketing Technology. Then, the page says TikTok evaluates partners rigorously for TikTok excellence. It also says partners get access to the latest TikTok product knowledge.
The Agency category targets teams that build creative assets, manage ad spend and measure the impact of TikTok ads. So TikTok's own blog describes the agency badge as a mark for media agencies with proven TikTok marketing expertise.
The table below summarises the four categories in wording close to the official page.
| Category | Focus on the official page | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Agency | Creative, ad spend management and measurement | A team that runs ads end to end |
| Creative | Organic or paid TikTok content | A partner that produces content |
| Measurement | Online and offline performance | A partner that measures and reports |
| Marketing Technology | Innovative technology solutions | A partner that supplies tools and integrations |
So the phrase "TikTok partner" says little on its own. Ask which category the agency means first.
For example, a restaurant group might need a measurement partner, while an online shop might need a creative one. Also, the same badge language answers different needs.
What is the difference between Agency Partner and Premier Agency Partner?
In a blog post dated 28 September 2026, TikTok announced that it moved the agency badging programme from a single tier to a two-tier model. In practice, the tiers carry the names "Agency Partner" and "Premier Agency Partner". These names come from the official post, so treat any other label with suspicion.
According to TikTok, Agency Partner marks established platform excellence for qualified agencies with strong performance, operational capability and certified team expertise. In addition, Premier Agency Partner is the highest level of recognition in the agency programme.
The post does not publish numeric thresholds for either tier. Still, if an agency claims "Premier status requires a certain spend", ask for the source.
- Agency Partner: an established mark of platform excellence.
- Premier Agency Partner: the highest recognition level in the agency programme.
- Numeric criteria for both tiers do not appear in the official post.
In practice, knowing these two names helps you read a pitch deck. Then, if a slide says "Premier", you can check whether it is the official tier name. Some firms also use the word as a plain marketing slogan, so the word alone proves nothing.
How does an agency earn the TikTok agency badge?
TikTok's Marketing Partners page points interested agencies to its own application and directory pages. The agency badge page, however, does not list detailed criteria. So it only mentions proven TikTok expertise and a proven track record of using TikTok-style creative assets to optimise media.
In short, the badge comes from TikTok's evaluation, not from an agency filling in a form. TikTok does not publish the inner details of that evaluation, so we do not guess.
This vagueness gives you an advantage. Also, you do not need to judge the criteria yourself; you only need to confirm the listing in the official directory.
If you ask "how did you earn this badge?", the answer tells you something about honesty. In practice, an honest team says it does not know the programme internals, or that TikTok keeps them private.
Is the badge in the agency onramp programme the same as the partner badge?
No, do not assume they match. In addition, TikTok's Agency OnRamp page offers three paths: the Affiliate Agency Program, the Creative Offering and the Agency Advantage Program. Still, according to the page, the Agency Advantage Program includes perks, best practices and a special agency badge.
So when an agency says "we have a badge", that sentence tells you little until it names the programme. Then, a listing in the Marketing Partners directory and a badge from an agency growth programme belong to different programmes.
The other two paths can add to the confusion. So the Affiliate Agency Program offers rewards for opening active advertiser accounts, while the Creative Offering gives a limited number of free creative placements. Also, none of these perks proves the agency will succeed on your account.
Therefore ask one question: "Which programme, which tier and which region?" If the answer stays vague, check the official directory.
How do you verify a TikTok agency badge as a business owner?
The only reliable way is to find the agency's claim on TikTok's own pages. In practice, open the "Find a partner" directory on the Marketing Partners page and select your region. In addition, if the agency does not appear there, treat the claim as unverified until proof arrives.
Screenshots, PDF certificates and logos on the agency's own site do not count as proof, because anyone can copy them. Still, what matters is that you see the directory entry yourself.
- Ask which programme and tier the agency holds.
- Open the TikTok Marketing Partners directory and search for the agency name.
- Check that the name, region and category match the agency's claim.
- If they do not match, ask for a written explanation.
- If the explanation falls short, contact TikTok's official support channels.
Watch the spelling too. Then, an agency may appear under its brand name rather than its legal name. So in that case, ask for the legal name and match the two. Also, region matters as well: an agency listed in Germany may not hold the same badge in Turkey or the UK.
What does the badge not guarantee?
The badge shows that the agency knows the TikTok platform. In practice, it does not show that the agency will sell your products. Also, TikTok's own wording stresses expertise and a track record, with no promise of results.
The badge does not guarantee any of the following:
- A specific ROAS or sales volume for your ads.
- Experience in your industry.
- Seniority of your account manager.
- Fees that match the market.
- Reports that stay transparent and accurate.
Moreover, a badge never replaces a contract. In practice, you still need written goals, reporting rules, account ownership and exit terms. In addition, before you talk targets, use our ROAS calculator to find your own break-even point.
We suggest writing this list down before the sales call. Still, in a pitch, the badge often acts as a card that ends the discussion. Then, your questions go beyond it, though. So ask which attribution window the reports use, how many creative revisions you get and what the spending rules are. Also, these three questions reveal more than the badge does.
Is an agency without a badge a bad agency?
No. In practice, the badge shows that an agency passed TikTok's evaluation; the lack of one does not prove poor quality. In addition, many skilled teams have not applied yet, are waiting for a decision or focus on other channels.
On the other hand, a badge does not make an agency right for you either. Still, a large badged agency may cost too much or pay too little attention to a small online shop.
Use the badge as an extra signal, not as a gate. Then, base your decision on evidence: work with similar businesses, clear reporting, account transparency and communication quality.
Consider an example scenario (a hypothetical case, not a real one). So Agency A has a directory listing but never worked in your sector. Also, Agency B has no listing but shows concrete examples from similar products. In practice, which one you pick depends on your priority. In addition, compare both with the same list of questions.
What are the warning signs of a fake TikTok agency badge or a scam?
A fake badge usually arrives as an image: a logo on the agency's site that says "TikTok Certified" or "Official TikTok Partner". Still, if the agency has no entry in the official directory, the logo proves nothing. Then, wording that never appears in TikTok's own posts raises the odds of a made-up claim.
Watch for these warning signs:
- "Approved", "official" or "certified" claims that the directory does not back up.
- Promises such as "guaranteed sales" or "guaranteed followers".
- Agencies that ask you to pay ad budget into their accounts and refuse to work in yours.
- Pressure offers such as "today only".
- Messages that ask for your account admin password.
- Emails that look like official TikTok mail but come from a different domain.
Another sign is the contact channel. So official bodies do not rush you through a social media message. Also, check the domain before you click any link. Also remember that a message saying "your account will be suspended" may be an agency pitch or a phishing attempt. In practice, when in doubt, log in to your TikTok Business account directly and check your notifications.
If you suspect a scam, do not pay and do not share any password.
What access proof should you ask an agency for?
Better proof than a badge is evidence that the agency works on real accounts. In addition, client names may stay private for confidentiality, but the method can be shown. For example, the agency can explain its Business Center structure and how it gets access to client accounts.
You can ask for the following:
- A written description of the role the agency will hold in your own ad account.
- A clause stating that you keep ownership of the ad account and pixel.
- An anonymous sample report and the source of its data.
- At least one example from a similar business, with the name hidden.
An agency that refuses to share this deserves caution, even with a badge. The badge gives a first filter; account transparency protects your daily operations.
Know your limit when asking for proof. You cannot ask to see another client's account, because that breaks confidentiality and contracts. Instead, ask the agency to explain its method and to promise in writing that it will work transparently in your account.
What should you watch for when you give an agency account access?
The general rule is simple: you own the ad account and the data, and the agency works as an authorised user. Still, that way, past campaign data stays with you even if you part ways. Then, check the access steps on TikTok's Business Help pages yourself, since the interface changes from time to time.
Never share your password. Grant access through a user invitation with the lowest permission the work needs. Keep billing details and the payment method in your own name too.
When you turn organic videos into ads, such as with Spark Ads, an authorisation code comes into play. Read our guide on TikTok Spark Ads and the authorisation code for details. Agree the code's duration and scope with the agency in writing.
One more rule: close access the day you stop working together. Write an "access closes on exit" clause into the contract. Also review which users hold permissions in your account every now and then, because forgotten access creates needless risk.
What questions should you ask when you choose an agency?
Good questions reveal how an agency works, whatever its badge claims. After you ask about the badge, move on to these questions, because the answers show the real method.
- Which programme and which tier is your badge from?
- Can you describe a case in my sector?
- Who produces the creative, or do I supply it?
- Which metrics will you report, and how often?
- Who will own the ad account and the pixel?
- What do you do if targets slip, and how do we end the contract?
Write the answers down and compare at least two agencies with the same list. Do not decide on one criterion alone. For instance, the cheapest quote can turn expensive if it limits reporting. Notice evasive answers, too. A team that gives vague statements instead of clear figures may keep that habit later.
The criteria in our guide on how to choose a web design agency also help, even though the field differs. For campaign planning, read our TikTok Sales campaign guide.
How does the TikTok agency badge differ from a Google Partner badge?
The two badges belong to different companies and different platforms. The TikTok badge shows skill in TikTok advertising, while the Google Partner badge ties to Google's Ads programme. Holding one does not imply holding the other.
So if an agency says "we are a Google Partner", verify it in Google's own directory. If it says "TikTok approved", verify it in TikTok's directory. You need to check each platform separately.
| Topic | TikTok agency badge | Google Partner badge |
|---|---|---|
| Issuer | TikTok | |
| Platform covered | TikTok ads | Google Ads |
| Where to verify | TikTok Marketing Partners directory | Google's official partner directory |
| What it signals | Platform expertise | Programme expertise |
An agency can hold both, and that can be a good sign. Still, verify each one. The two platforms also work differently: Google Ads captures intent-driven search demand, while TikTok works in a discovery-led video feed. A win on one platform does not carry over to the other automatically.

How do you track results with a badged agency?
The badge helps on contract day, and results decide everything after that. The best way to trust an agency report is to set up your own measurement as well. Compare the agency's numbers with UTM tags, your own analytics account and your sales data.
If the conversion count in the ad report differs a lot from your store or CRM records, ask why. Often the gap comes from the attribution window; still, you have the right to an explanation.
- Tag your campaign links with our UTM builder.
- Set a weekly or fortnightly reporting rhythm.
- Track your sales conversion rate with the conversion rate calculator.
- If results fall, follow the steps in our post on why ROAS drops and how to diagnose it.
Starting with a small test budget makes sense in the first weeks. You see the agency's creative approach, reporting style and speed. Moreover, when the test ends, you hold real data in your own account, so you base the decision to scale on results, not on the badge.
What should you calculate before you talk budget with an agency?
Badge or no badge, know your own numbers before the meeting. Your product margin, your acceptable customer acquisition cost and your monthly ad budget help the agency give you a realistic plan. A business that does not know these numbers accepts almost any offer.
We explain how to set up the budget in our post on how to calculate a social media advertising budget. As an example calculation, if your margin is half of the selling price, spending more than half the selling price on ads to win one sale means a loss.
That figure is only an example calculation; it varies by sector. If you show the agency your own break-even point, you set realistic goals together.
Also separate the agency fee from the ad spend. The fee the agency charges differs from the budget that goes to TikTok. The quote should show both lines. When ad spend runs directly from your own account, transparency improves and tracking gets easier.
How should a TikTok agency badge claim look in an offer message?
Badge claims often arrive in an email or direct message. If the message uses capital letters such as "official partner", a short discount and pressure to decide fast, pause. Real partners do not push you to pay in the first message; they ask about your needs first.
For example, if a message says "We are TikTok approved agency, start today and get a discount", question both the badge and the discount. The discount here is only an illustration. The real warning is the pressure in the language. If you cannot find the badge in the directory, do not reply.
A good agency answers your questions patiently. It also shares the directory link itself, because it does not fear verification.
What other signs show an agency is trustworthy?
The badge is not the only sign; read several signs together. The agency should have a clear address, a legal company name and a reachable team. Look for a communication style that explains its method and answers your questions plainly.
Read these signs together:
- The agency agrees to work transparently in your account.
- Ability to describe work with similar businesses, even if names stay hidden.
- Honest talk about the chance of failure.
- A contract it shares without fuss.
If one of these is missing, ask again even when the badge exists. Trust comes from the sum of behaviour, not from one logo.
Which contract clauses should you put in writing with a badged agency?
A badge does not replace a contract, and a contract does not replace a badge. Think of the two together. The contract should cover account ownership, reporting, termination and data handover. Otherwise, in a dispute, you hold only the agency's pitch words.
Ask for these clauses in writing:
- Who owns the ad account, pixel and creative files.
- The content, source and delivery day of the monthly report.
- That the service fee and the ad spend are separate lines.
- The notice period and when access closes after exit.
- Creative revision rights and the approval process.
This is not legal advice. For a large budget, show the contract to a lawyer.
Which numbers in agency reports deserve suspicion?
The report is the agency's strongest sales tool, so read the numbers with skill. Impressions and clicks look good but may bring no sales. What matters is whether the report matches your own sales data.
Pay attention to these points:
- Reports that show only impressions, views and likes and ignore sales.
- Conversion counts that never state the attribution window.
- Measurement methods that change every month without an explanation.
- ROAS figures that differ sharply from your own analytics.
For example, if the report shows a high ROAS but that much money never reaches your till, ask about the attribution window. Asking is not rude; it is a normal part of the job.
When does a small business actually need a TikTok agency?
The honest answer is that not every business needs an agency. If your budget is small and your range narrow, you can try TikTok's own ad manager yourself at first. A few small tests show what works, and then you decide.
An agency starts to make sense in these cases:
- You have no time or team for creative production.
- You must manage several channels together.
- Your spend grew and measurement got complicated.
- Your account has repeated errors or policy issues.
You can also bring an agency in later. So do not start searching for a badged agency before you know your need. If you want help beyond ads, compare social media management and influencer marketing separately.
How current is this TikTok agency badge information and where do you follow updates?
This article rests on TikTok's official Business pages as of 4 October 2026. The latest development was the two-tier model announcement of 28 September 2026. Programme names, tiers and application terms can change.
Read current information on the Marketing Partners page on ads.tiktok.com and on the TikTok for Business blog. A third-party article or an agency's description does not replace these official sources.
One more note: this piece is a consumer guide about the badge. If you face a legal or commercial dispute, show your contract to a specialist. For reference, see TikTok Marketing Partners, the agency badge announcement, the Premier Agency Partners announcement and the Agency OnRamp programme.
What is a short checklist for the final decision?
Let us gather all steps in one list. Review it before and after you talk to an agency, and mark each item yes or no.
- Is the programme and tier the agency claims clear?
- Did you find the agency in TikTok's official directory yourself?
- Do you keep the ad account and the pixel?
- Are the reporting rhythm and metrics in writing?
- Is there a guaranteed-result promise or a password request? (If so, stop.)
- Does the contract have exit and data handover clauses?
If you plan to automate creative, read our TikTok Smart Creative guide. Let this list and the official sources drive your decision, not the agency's sentences.
Finally, ask yourself honestly whether you can run this work in house. A small, single-product shop can start with TikTok's own ad manager. If creative, measurement and budget tuning take more time than you have, an agency makes sense. Capacity and goals decide that, not a badge.
