Most people who open the website of a Kahramanmaras manufacturer have never been to the city. They are a sourcing manager at a weaving mill in Prato comparing yarn suppliers, a kitchenware importer in Casablanca checking a catalog before a trade fair, or a specialty grocer in Hamburg wondering whether Maraş ice cream can be shipped. Each of them decides within a few minutes whether the supplier looks serious enough to contact.
This guide from Talha Aslan and team walks through the decisions a company faces in a web design Kahramanmaras project, in the order they come up. Every section ends in something you can check, ask or do this week.
01What a Website Does in Kahramanmaras's Economy
In Kahramanmaras, a manufacturer's website exists mainly to get onto a foreign buyer's shortlist; local awareness comes second. According to the Kahramanmaras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the province exported 1.28 billion dollars of goods to 132 countries in 2025, up 13 percent, ranking 20th among Turkey's exporting provinces. Textiles and raw materials accounted for 784 million dollars of that, fourth in the country, followed by iron and non ferrous metals at 187 million and paper at 113 million.
TÜİK's 2024 provincial data put GDP per capita at 10.4 thousand dollars in Kahramanmaras, against 9.7 thousand in neighboring Gaziantep and 9.6 thousand in Osmaniye. Before any design work, write down short answers to these questions:
- Revenue markets: Which countries actually pay the bills today: Italy, Egypt, Morocco, Portugal, Germany, or domestic chains?
- Reader: Is the person reading your site a purchaser, a production engineer, a distributor or an end consumer?
- First action: Do you want a sample request, a quote by quantity, or a direct order?
- Proof on hand: Which certificates, lab reports and plant photos can you publish now?
These answers decide the menu, the first line of the homepage and the fields on every form. Without them, meetings drift toward colors and fonts while the buyer's real question stays unanswered.
02Who Searches for What, From Where
Searches that lead to a Kahramanmaras company come from three different audiences, and each needs its own landing page. A site that tries to serve all three with one generic page loses most of them.
The first audience searches by product, not by place. A knitting mill typing "Ne 30 combed cotton yarn supplier Turkey" will never add the city name; you appear only if the product page title states count, fiber and end use. The same holds for someone searching "copper coffee pot wholesale" or "Maraş pepper flakes bulk".
The second audience is local. A person in Onikişubat or Dulkadiroğlu looking for a service searches on a phone, often in a hurry, and needs a map listing, opening hours and a click to call button. Firms in Elbistan and Afşin, which have their own trading circles, reach this audience with the district name.
The third audience is seasonal or verifying. Interest in ordering Maraş ice cream rises in summer, and after a trade fair, every buyer who took your card searches your company name. A week before each fair, search your own name in a private browser window and read the first results as a foreign purchaser would. An outdated phone number, a broken subpage or a homepage only in Turkish can end the conversation before it starts.
03Choosing a Partner Outside the Province
Our work with Kahramanmaras companies runs entirely online, so the right partner is the one whose process is written down clearly, not the one closest to your gate. Your export team already closes deals with buyers abroad by e-mail and video call; a website project can follow the same discipline.
Ask every agency you talk to for written answers on these points:
- Technical copy: Who writes yarn counts, wall thickness or alloy data, who checks it, and how will the spec table be updated later?
- Language ownership: Who produces the Italian or Arabic text, and who proofreads it before launch?
- Visibility: Where can you see the project status without chasing anyone by message?
- Evidence: Which live sites that sell products or collect quote requests can you open on your phone right now?
For that last point, insist on live addresses rather than screenshots, then test the speed and the form yourself. Our live work is on the references page.
Distance only becomes a real problem when decisions vanish into voice notes. Asking for a short written summary after each call removes most of that risk.
04Ownership of Domain, Hosting, Code and Accounts
Your company must own the website and every account connected to it, and the quote should say so in writing. In family businesses, it is common to find the domain registered years ago under a relative's or former employee's personal name; when that person leaves, e-mail, website and ad accounts can lock at the same time.
On handover day, walk through this list yourself:
- Domain: Is the registrant your legal company name, and do you hold the registrar login and the renewal date?
- Hosting: Do you have administrator access to the hosting panel, and is it documented where backups are stored?
- Code and content: Can you export the files and database if you ever move to another server?
- Measurement accounts: Is your company the owner in Search Console, analytics and Google Business Profile, with the agency only as a user?
- Company e-mail: Are your sales team's mailboxes on your own domain, and can you add and remove users yourself?
This check takes about fifteen minutes and prevents weeks of lockout later, for example when an export manager moves on in the middle of fair season. Keep the credentials in a shared company password vault rather than on one person's phone.
05The Online Project, Step by Step
A project with a Kahramanmaras producer moves from gathering product data to training on screen, with a written approval at the end of each stage. Skipping stages is what makes remote projects go wrong, not the distance itself.
- Discovery call: We cover product families, target markets and buyer types over video, then share a short decision note.
- Written scope: The quote lists pages, languages, product count and schedule, and states what is out of scope.
- Material collection: Spec sheets, certificates, product and plant photos go into a shared folder, with gaps tracked on a list.
- Template approval: One product page and its spec table are approved first, then rolled out to every product.
- Design and build: Interim versions open on a staging address; you test them on your phone and comment in writing.
- Launch and training: The site goes live and your team learns over video how to add products and handle the enquiry inbox.
If you are in Istanbul for a textile fair or a meeting, we can also meet at our office in Ataşehir by appointment, but no step in the process depends on it.
06Local Visibility From Onikişubat to Elbistan
Local search visibility starts with describing, consistently, where the business actually operates. The center of Kahramanmaras is split between Onikişubat and Dulkadiroğlu, Elbistan and Afşin in the north have markets of their own, and Türkoğlu, Pazarcık, Göksun and Andırın are searched separately.
- Profile name: Google's guidelines require the real world business name; adding phrases like "cheap yarn Maraş" puts the listing at risk.
- Categories: The primary category should describe what you make; wholesale and export belong in secondary categories or services.
- Address choice: A plant in an industrial zone that does not receive visitors can be set up as a service area business with the address hidden.
- Two spellings: People search with the full name and with the short form Maraş; both should appear naturally in the copy.
- Real district pages only: Create a page only for a district where you have a branch or regular service; eleven copies with swapped names have no value to search engines.
If you run an ice cream or pepper shop, add seasonal opening hours and real photos of the store. Our search engine optimization service covers local and product searches together.
07Which Languages, for Which Buyers
For a Kahramanmaras producer, the language decision comes from the sales ledger, not from prestige. With Italy, Egypt, Morocco, Portugal and Germany as the largest buyers, English is usually the base version, but often not enough on its own.
An Italian weaving mill's technical manager may read English well, yet will stay longer on a page in Italian and forward it internally. Garment makers and wholesalers in Egypt and Morocco read Arabic, which needs a right to left layout designed on purpose rather than mirrored at the last minute; for Morocco, French is worth considering too. A German kitchenware importer expects German product pages and legal texts that meet European rules.
To judge whether a second language will pay off, check three things: how many enquiries came from that country in the past two years, whether someone on your team can correspond in that language, and how many hours a reply in that language would take. A language you cannot answer in turns enquiries into lost leads.
Each language should live at its own address and be connected with hreflang annotations, each version pointing to the others and to itself. You can build the tags with our hreflang generator, and the structure is explained on our multilingual website page.
08Product Images, Speed and Security
On manufacturer sites, the most common cause of slow pages is product and plant photography uploaded straight from the camera. When a metal kitchenware catalog with hundreds of models carries several megabytes per image, a buyer on a mobile connection in Cairo leaves before the page appears.
Google's thresholds for a good experience, measured at the 75th percentile of visits, are an LCP (the time until the largest element appears) of 2.5 seconds or less, an INP (how quickly the page responds to a tap) of 200 milliseconds or less, and a CLS (how much the layout jumps) of 0.1 or less.
- Image size: Resize product photos to their displayed width and convert them to a modern format before upload; our image resizer handles this.
- Spec sheets: Offer PDFs as separate downloads instead of embedding them in the page.
- Delivery network: If your buyers sit in Europe and North Africa, a content delivery network shortens load times for distant visitors.
- Security basics: An SSL certificate, current software, two step login for the panel and daily backups should be standard.
- Form protection: Invisible verification and field checks reduce spam on the sample form without blocking genuine requests.
Speed is not set once and forgotten. If the image rule is ignored every time a product is added, the site drifts back to its old weight within months, which is why we make it part of panel training.
09Yarn, Metalware, Food and Energy Supplier Examples
In Kahramanmaras, the sector decides the structure of the site; one template does not fit a spinning mill and a pepper brand alike. The examples below describe recurring needs in these sectors, not specific clients.
A yarn buyer first wants to know whether the product fits the loom. A page for "Ne 20 open end cotton yarn" should show count, raw material, twist direction, recommended end use and certificates in a fixed order, with a sample form that asks for quantity directly underneath. The general setup of a manufacturer's site is covered on our industrial company website page.
For metal kitchenware and jewelry makers, the job is presenting hundreds of models in order: a catalog filtered by material, capacity, series and finish, a downloadable range for wholesalers, and large, sharp photos for retail customers.
A brand selling Maraş ice cream, Maraş pepper or tarhana should explain what the geographical indication means, where the product is made, its shelf life and where it ships. Once fulfillment is ready, the sales channel can be built as an e-commerce store.
Contractors serving the power plants and mines of the Afşin Elbistan basin need documents, equipment lists and reference projects two clicks away. EÜAŞ lists the Afşin Elbistan B plant alone at 1,440 megawatts; a company providing maintenance, spare parts or transport at that scale should present safety certification and equipment capacity in a clear table.
10Privacy Notices, Cookies and Online Sales
Any site that collects data through a form needs a privacy notice under Article 10 of Turkey's data protection law, KVKK, placed where the form is. Even a sample request form qualifies, because it collects name, company, e-mail and phone number.
- Privacy notice: State in plain language what data is processed, for what purpose, who receives it and for how long.
- Cookie consent: In the EU, non essential analytics and advertising cookies may only run after consent, and Google requires consent mode for measurement and personalized ads for visitors from the European Economic Area.
- UK visitors: If you actively target buyers in the United Kingdom, check the UK's own data protection and cookie rules with your adviser rather than assuming the EU setup covers everything.
- Online sales: A food brand selling to consumers in Turkey must show pre contract information, the distance sales contract and withdrawal rights before the payment step.
- Protected names: Before using the Maraş ice cream or Maraş pepper wording or emblem, check the rules of the registration holder and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
How withdrawal rights apply to perishable goods such as ice cream, and what your shipping and return terms say, should be settled with a lawyer. We make sure each text appears in the right place and at the right step; your legal adviser should approve its content.
11Redesigning Without Losing Rankings
When redesigning a company site that has been live for years, the main risk is that addresses Google already knows change without notice. A yarn page found under an old address like "products.php?id=14" disappears in the new site unless it is redirected, and the buyer who searched for it lands on an error page.
- Take inventory: List every old URL, the pages that get traffic in Search Console and the addresses that earn external links.
- Build a mapping table: Write the new equivalent of every old URL, and point pages with no equivalent to the closest category.
- Set permanent redirects: Apply the mapping with 301 redirects and avoid redirect chains.
- Keep staging closed: Password protect the test address, and on launch day confirm the protection and any blocking tags are removed.
- Monitor after launch: In the first weeks, read coverage errors and 404 reports in Search Console every day.
On sites with an English version, map each language separately; a correct Turkish redirect does not help if the English product page is forgotten and foreign buyers' traffic disappears. Also confirm that hreflang annotations point to the new addresses on launch day.
A redesign is also the moment to move data out of old PDF catalogs into searchable pages. Our approach is described on the website redesign page.
12Common Mistakes on Kahramanmaras Company Sites
Most mistakes on manufacturer sites in the region come from treating the website as a local brochure. Each item below includes the better alternative.
- One heavy PDF catalog: Search engines barely see products locked in a large PDF; give each product family a page with a table, and offer the PDF as an extra download.
- English left as machine translation: Yarn and metallurgy terms lose their meaning in automatic translation; have someone who knows the trade review it and build a glossary once.
- Phone number only: A buyer in another time zone prefers to write; add a sample form with a quantity field and a WhatsApp link.
- Claims without proof: "High quality production" tells a buyer nothing; show certificate names, the machine park and the test method.
- A stale news section: A news page last updated years ago suggests the company has closed; remove it if you cannot keep it current.
- Accounts owned by the agency: A Business Profile or analytics account opened under the agency's address makes you dependent; transfer ownership to the company and grant the agency access only.
13What Drives the Budget
The scope of a manufacturer's site is set by product count, number of languages and how you sell, not by the city. A company in Kahramanmaras chooses from the same packages as businesses anywhere else; the difference comes from the content of the project.
- Products and models: Ten product families and five hundred models are different jobs; filters, panel and table templates grow with the catalog.
- Languages and script direction: Each extra language needs copy, review and testing; a right to left language such as Arabic requires its own design adaptation.
- Online sales: Payments, shipping zones, cold chain rules and contract texts widen the scope noticeably.
- Content readiness: Ready spec sheets and photos shorten the schedule; photography and copywriting are planned separately.
- Integrations: Pulling stock or product data from an ERP, or pushing enquiries into a CRM, are separate development items.
A practical way to control the budget is to launch with the base language and the top selling product families, then add the second language and remaining families in a later phase, shaped by real buyer feedback.
When comparing quotes, make sure the line items match. If one includes language review, image optimization and panel training and another does not, the totals are not describing the same work; set every quote against the same scope list.
14The First 90 Days and Your Next Step
The three months after launch show whether the site actually brings in enquiries, so they should not pass without a plan. This is the schedule we suggest to Kahramanmaras producers:
- First two weeks: Submit the sitemap in Search Console and confirm with a test request that form and WhatsApp clicks are measured.
- End of month one: Collect enquiries in a sheet by country and product family to see which pages generate requests.
- Month two: Improve the table, photos and form text of the most viewed product page that brings no requests.
- Month three: Decide on a second language or a new product family based on enquiry data, not on instinct.
The step most often skipped is measuring response time. Answering a sample request two days late can waste the effort behind a carefully designed page; decide before launch who checks the inbox and how often, and name a backup for fair weeks.
