Trendyol Violation Points: Thresholds, Expiry, Appeals and How to Avoid Them

What are Trendyol violation points?

Trendyol violation points are penalty points that Trendyol adds to a seller account each time the seller breaks the Platform Rules or quality standards. Points add up over time. At 12, 24 and 36 points, Trendyol suspends the account for a few days, and at 48 points it closes the account. Every point expires after a set period.

I have led digital marketing and e-commerce strategy since 2012. When I work with brands that sell on marketplaces, I keep seeing the same pattern: teams watch ad spend, promotions and stock levels closely, yet they only open the Violations screen after the store goes offline. In reality, that screen is one of the earliest warning signs you have.

This guide is for sellers on Trendyol in Europe (the DACH and CEE markets), in the Gulf region and in Turkey. I explain the thresholds, how long points count, how to contest them and what to fix in daily operations. Every figure comes from Trendyol's official sources: the Seller Information Center and the published Platform Rules. If I could not verify a number, I left it out.

How do Trendyol violation points differ from your seller score?

They measure different things, but they are linked. Violation points work like a penalty counter: they rise when you break a rule and fall when each record expires. Your seller score, on the other hand, is a performance rating out of 10 that customers see and use when they decide where to buy.

On the Turkish marketplace, Trendyol states that violation points are one of the operational metrics inside the seller score. So every new violation also drags your score down indirectly. As a result, a store can lose visibility long before it hits a suspension threshold.

At what thresholds do Trendyol violation points trigger a suspension?

In short, the system works in steps. The European Platform Rules (version 19, August 2026) and the Gulf seller policy list the same thresholds:

Total pointsRestrictionRight to respond
12 points2-day account suspension5-day justification period
24 points5-day account suspension5-day justification period
36 points7-day account suspension5-day justification period
48 pointsAccount closureNone for fraud, forgery or counterfeits; 5 days in other cases

One detail matters a lot: some single violations carry 48 points on their own. For example, selling non-original products or uploading a non-original document can close a store even if its total was zero the day before. So do not think of this as a "three strikes" system.

In addition, Trendyol keeps the right to act beyond these thresholds, based on how severe, frequent and harmful a breach is. The list inside your own Seller Center always wins.

What happens when a store reaches 48 points?

The European rules split this into two cases. First, for fraud, forgery, counterfeit activity or other serious misconduct, closure is immediate and there is no justification period. However, if you believe Trendyol made a mistake, you can still submit proof afterwards. Second, in all other cases, you get 5 days to send evidence before closure applies.

The Gulf FAQ adds that at 48 points or more, sales stop indefinitely and Trendyol terminates the seller contract after 30 days. For the Turkish marketplace, the Seller Information Center describes a similar two-track timeline: immediate suspension for the most serious cases and contract termination 30 business days later, or suspension after 5 days followed by termination 25 business days later.

In practice, the difference between these tracks is your reaction time. In the second case you have a short window to collect documents and respond. By contrast, the first case gives you no window at all, so preparation has to happen before anything goes wrong.

How long do Trendyol violation points stay on your account?

Points do not stay forever. Instead, each record counts toward your total for a fixed period and then expires. The European Platform Rules set a standard expiry of 6 months from the date of issue. Points in the following categories expire after 3 months:

  • failure to submit documents that verify product authenticity,
  • failure to prove ownership of, or rights to use, intellectual property, brand assets or content,
  • failure to meet content quality requirements,
  • misuse of platform features or manipulation of listing visibility, such as Buybox abuse.

The Gulf FAQ says the same thing in shorter form: apart from 48-point violations, points remain valid for 3 or 6 months. On the Turkish side, Trendyol describes periods of 180 or 90 days and notes that 48-point violations never expire.

What does this mean day to day? A point from five months ago can still push you over a threshold today. That is why I recommend a simple log with the issue date, type, points, expiry date and appeal status of every record.

Which violation categories does Trendyol use?

The European Platform Rules group violations into five headings. Each heading lists many specific behaviours, but the five groups explain the logic:

  1. Platform compatibility: redirecting customers to other channels, unauthorised direct contact, review or ranking manipulation, misuse of data and inappropriate behaviour toward customers or staff.
  2. Original product sales: non-original documents and non-original or suspicious products.
  3. Intellectual and industrial property: failing to upload proof of rights within the deadline.
  4. Content quality: incorrect or misleading product data, prohibited or illegal products, inappropriate images, Buybox breaches and unsupported health claims.
  5. Honest trade: empty parcels, false order status, missing invoices or warranty documents, related seller accounts and false seller information.

Because point values differ between markets, always read the version that applies to your storefront. I show an example of those differences further down, together with the thresholds that stay the same everywhere.

Which violations close a store in one step?

Several behaviours carry the full 48 points. In other words, a single confirmed record is enough for closure. In the European rules, these include:

  • uploading a non-original document or selling non-original or suspicious products,
  • listing or sending a product that the law prohibits,
  • causing, or attempting to cause, harm to Trendyol or its customers,
  • related seller accounts and the malicious use of permitted multiple accounts,
  • creating a high level of customer dissatisfaction through a very low performance score,
  • giving Trendyol false or misleading information about identity, trade name, contact details or finances.

Most of these require a deliberate choice.

For example, nobody opens a related seller account by accident, and nobody uploads a forged document without knowing it. Still, a common risk scenario is taking over stock from a partner or wholesaler without checking where it came from. In that case, the risk sits with whoever lists the product, so ask for proof of authenticity before you accept any batch.

The customer dissatisfaction item is different, though, because it can build up slowly. That is why the next section deserves your attention.

Can poor performance turn into violation points?

Yes. According to the European rules, Trendyol can issue 48 points when a seller falls well below platform-wide benchmarks on key quality metrics. The examples include a high complaint rate, frequent defective, wrong or incomplete items, repeated non-original deliveries and consistently low product ratings. The rules also state that Trendyol applies the same benchmark to all sellers.

In practice, your performance reports are the early warning system here. Track your cancellation rate, defect rate, on-time dispatch rate and complaint rate every week. To check those ratios against your own order data, the percentage calculator is a quick way to do it.

In short, do not manage violation points with a rulebook alone. Treat a falling performance score as the first signal that a violation may follow.

Which customer communication mistakes lead to points?

This is where I see the most avoidable errors, because a busy operations team or a new hire often answers customer questions without knowing the rules. The European rules name these behaviours explicitly:

  • sending customers to another sales channel or website through the Q&A feature (4 points),
  • adding links, QR codes or coupons for other platforms to listings, images or parcels,
  • sharing or asking for phone numbers, emails, WhatsApp or social media contacts (6 points),
  • irrelevant or template answers such as "see the product description" (4 points),
  • rude, dismissive or misleading language, or nudging a customer to cancel an order.

Also note that failing to handle requests about missing, defective or wrong items in a timely way carries 2 points. None of these rules is complicated. However, all of them need to live in a short written guide that everyone on the team has read.

Why do authenticity and IP violations carry the heaviest penalties?

These breaches hurt customers and rights holders directly, so Trendyol treats them as the biggest risk to platform trust. As noted above, non-original documents and non-original products carry 48 points in both the European and Gulf rules.

Missing paperwork, however, is a quieter risk. When a rights holder files a notice against your listing, you must upload proof of your rights within the deadline, or you receive 4 points. Repeated failures raise the value to 12 points in the European rules. Consequently, a slow response to paperwork can escalate quickly.

So my advice is simple: keep supplier invoices, distribution agreements, trademark certificates and authorisation letters in one folder per product. Then, when a notice arrives, you spend minutes rather than days. If you are building your own label, start trademark registration early; the legal side of brand identity work is often left too late.

What should you watch in content quality and Buybox rules?

Content violations look small one by one, yet they pile up as a catalogue grows. In the European rules, a content quality breach and a Buybox breach each carry 2 points. Incorrect or misleading product information carries 4, inappropriate images 6 and unsupported health claims 4. Abusive use of health declarations rises to 12.

The examples under content quality are instructive: wrong brand, wrong image, wrong category, wrong variant, duplicated barcodes and cancelling an order in order to relist the item at a higher price. The last one tends to happen during price increases, often without anyone realising it breaks a rule.

I cover how a strong listing works in my e-commerce product page guide. The same principles apply on a marketplace: accurate titles, correct categories, real images and claims you can prove. For consistent visuals, see my article on visual language and UX.

Which shipping and invoicing errors add points?

Operational violations usually appear in peak weeks. Order volume jumps, the warehouse falls behind and, as a result, people take shortcuts. In the European rules, examples include:

  • marking an order as "shipped" or "in transit" before handing it to the carrier: 4 points,
  • selling without an invoice: 2 points; without a warranty certificate or legally required documents: 2 points,
  • repeatedly uploading invalid invoices, including illegible or low-resolution files: 24 points,
  • sending an empty parcel or falsely updating the order status: 12 points.

All of these are process failures rather than bad intent. For instance, a warehouse that prints labels but misses the carrier pickup has, in system terms, reported a false status. Therefore, a realistic cut-off time and an automated invoice integration remove most of this risk. When you check invoice totals, the VAT calculator offers a quick sanity check.

Why is review manipulation so risky?

Fake orders and incentivised reviews may lift rankings for a while, but they are among the behaviours the system penalises most clearly. In the European rules, manipulating reviews, ratings, rankings or follower metrics carries 6 points, and repeated fake purchases can reach 24 or even 48 points.

The rules spell out what counts as manipulation. For example, orders placed through the seller's own accounts or through relatives or representatives to generate reviews are prohibited. Likewise, offering discounts or gifts in exchange for positive reviews breaks the rules.

The healthy route is to improve the real experience instead. A thank-you card in the parcel is fine; "leave five stars for a discount" is not. I explain how to build genuine trust signals in my guide to customer trust for online stores.

How do you appeal Trendyol violation points?

In Europe, the Platform Rules give you a 5-day justification period for suspensions at 12, 24 and 36 points and for most 48-point cases. The Gulf FAQ states that you can contest a violation within 5 days through Seller Support channels. On the Turkish marketplace, Trendyol describes an "objection" button on each record in the Violations screen, with live support as the route once the window closes.

Here is the process I recommend:

  1. Note the type, reason and point value of the record on the day it appears.
  2. Build a timeline: order date, carrier handover, customer messages and invoice upload time.
  3. Match every claim with a document; specific evidence beats general explanations.
  4. Keep the text short, polite and factual.
  5. Record the outcome and any new instructions in your process documents.

Trendyol says its rules and compliance team reviews detected violations and can withdraw points when an objection is justified. Still, success depends mostly on the quality of your evidence.

What evidence makes an appeal stronger?

A good appeal says "here is what happened and here is the proof" rather than "we did nothing wrong". The right documents depend on the type of violation. In my experience, these make the biggest difference:

  • Authenticity and IP: supplier invoices, distribution agreements, trademark certificates and brand authorisation letters.
  • Shipping status: carrier handover receipts, warehouse dispatch logs and carrier system records.
  • Invoices: the original electronic invoice record and proof of the upload time.
  • Customer communication: the full Q&A history, so the reviewer sees the context.

Also, make sure every file is complete and legible. After all, the European rules treat illegible or incorrect invoices as a violation in their own right, so a weak attachment can make things worse.

How do violation points affect visibility and sales?

The direct effect is obvious: a suspended store sells nothing. The indirect effect lasts longer. On the Turkish marketplace, Trendyol states that a higher seller score improves product ranking and Buybox ranking, and violation points feed into that score. Conversely, accumulated points quietly erode visibility.

Timing also matters. A two-day or five-day suspension during a campaign wastes the ad budget you planned for that week. Meanwhile, competitors take the Buybox, and winning it back can take time.

For this reason, I suggest adding violation points as a separate line in your marketplace performance report. I explain which metrics really tie to business results in my article on digital marketing KPIs; for marketplace sellers, violation points belong on that list as a leading indicator.

Do point values differ between Trendyol markets?

The framework is the same, yet the point table can differ by market. Trendyol publishes separate Platform Rules for the Gulf region and for Europe. When I compared the two documents, I found different values for the same behaviour:

ViolationGulf rulesEuropean rules (August 2026)
Unauthorised direct contact with customers4 points6 points
Illegal use of data24 points12 points
Redirecting to another sales channel4 points4 points
Selling non-original products48 points48 points

The thresholds of 12, 24, 36 and 48 points match in both. So never carry a point value from one market to another; check the current document for the market you sell in. If you sell cross-border from Turkey, read the micro-export violations content in the Turkish Seller Information Center as well.

How do you build a weekly violation check with your team?

The most effective way to manage violation points is to make them a routine check rather than a crisis topic. With my team, we suggest this weekly rhythm to brands that run marketplace operations:

  1. Monday: review new records and appeals that are close to their deadline.
  2. Tuesday: report the active total and the gap to the next threshold.
  3. Wednesday: review the latest performance score and its sub-metrics.
  4. Thursday: sample recent Q&A answers and check them against the rules.
  5. Friday: confirm carrier capacity and invoice integration for the next campaign week.

This routine spreads responsibility instead of placing it on one person. Even in a small team, one named owner per day is enough; what matters is that the check never slips. Moreover, the routine gives new hires a clear picture of what good looks like from their first week. Also, write a short root-cause note after every violation. Then, if the same mistake happens again, you can see at once which step the team skipped.

How can you keep growing on Trendyol while reducing violation risk?

Violation points are the quietest brake on marketplace growth. No matter how good your ads, pricing and promotions are, accumulated breaches wear down visibility and trust. Therefore, treat compliance as growth infrastructure, not as overhead.

In the long run, it also pays not to rely on a single marketplace. Your own store lets you build customer relationships outside platform rules; my checklist for starting an e-commerce website covers the first steps. To prepare for reputational pressure, see my guide on handling a social media crisis; note that the rules also penalise knowingly false public statements about Trendyol with 24 points.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Trendyol violation points close a store?
A total of 48 points leads to account closure. Lower thresholds bring temporary suspensions: 2 days at 12 points, 5 days at 24 points and 7 days at 36 points. Some single violations, such as selling non-original products, carry 48 points on their own, so one confirmed record can close a store even when its previous total was low.
When do Trendyol violation points expire?
Under the European Platform Rules, points expire 6 months after the date of issue. Points for missing authenticity or rights documents, content quality issues and misuse of platform features expire after 3 months. Violations worth 48 points do not expire. You can track each record and its status on the Violations screen in Seller Center.
How long do I have to appeal a violation?
You have 5 days. The European rules give a 5-day justification period for suspensions and most closures, and the Gulf FAQ allows objections within 5 days through Seller Support. For fraud, forgery or counterfeit cases, closure is immediate, but you can still submit proof afterwards if you believe Trendyol made a mistake.
Do violation points affect my seller score?
Yes, they do. On the Turkish marketplace, Trendyol lists violation points as one of the operational metrics in the seller score, and a higher score improves product ranking and Buybox position. So even points that never trigger a suspension can reduce your visibility. Track both numbers together in your weekly report.
Are violation points the same in every Trendyol market?
No, not always. The thresholds of 12, 24, 36 and 48 points match in the European and Gulf rules, but single values can differ. For example, unauthorised direct contact with customers carries 4 points in the Gulf rules and 6 points in the European rules. Always check the document for your own market.
What are the most common reasons sellers receive points?
In my experience, the most common reasons are template answers to customer questions, pushing customers to other channels, marking orders as shipped before carrier handover, missing invoices and wrong category or variant data. Most of these come from gaps in process and training rather than bad intent, so a short written guide prevents many of them.
